BTS Reunites on Stage in New York for First U.S. Performance in Four Years
The global phenomenon BTS has made their triumphant return to the American stage. On March 23, the seven-member group performed together in the United States for the first time since 2022 at an exclusive, invitation-only event hosted by Spotify in New York City.
An Immersive Experience for Top Listeners
The event, titled Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE, was curated for an intimate audience of 1,000 of the group’s most dedicated top listeners on the streaming platform. Held at the scenic South Street Seaport with views of the Brooklyn Bridge, the setting provided a stark contrast to the massive stadiums the band is accustomed to. The immersive rooftop experience was designed to transport fans into the universe of their newly released album, “ARIRANG.”
A Heartfelt Welcome Back and Intimate Performance
During a Q&A session moderated by actress Suki Waterhouse, group leader RM expressed the significance of the moment. “It’s really an honor for us to do our first stage in America here,” he stated. “Thanks to Spotify for giving us this chance. And thank you for being together again with us. It’s been four years but now we’re here. We seven, and with you all, ARMY. We, with you, can take over the world.”
Following a fun game of “Normal vs Alien,” named after two tracks on their new record, BTS treated the assembled fans—who braved chilly and rainy conditions—to a special mini-concert. The setlist was a powerful preview of their new era.

The performance kicked off with the high-energy hip-hop track “2.0,” a song that signals the beginning of the group’s highly anticipated second chapter. The anthemic “NORML” then transformed the intimate gathering into a unified sing-along, proving its future stadium-ready status. They closed the powerful short set with their current single, “SWIM,” ending the evening on a poignant note of connection between the artists and their fans.
The Road to “ARIRANG” and a World Tour
This event marks a major milestone in the band’s comeback journey. After pausing group activities in 2022 to fulfill South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements, the final members were discharged in June 2025. They immediately began work on “ARIRANG,” collaborating with producers like Diplo—who was spotted in the SWIMSIDE crowd—Mike WiLL Made-It, and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
The album’s release was preceded by “BTS The Comeback Live: ARIRANG,” a global concert streamed on Netflix from Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square to 190 countries. Named after a beloved Korean folk song, “ARIRANG” achieved staggering success, selling nearly 4 million copies on its first day of release according to their label, Hybe.
The group will now embark on their extensive ARIRANG World Tour, beginning in Goyang, South Korea, on April 9. The tour is scheduled to hit the United States starting April 25, followed by dates across Europe, Asia, and Australia well into 2027.
