The critically acclaimed Tamil feature film Kinaru, directed by Harikumaran, is all set to captivate audiences when it arrives in theatres on November 14, coinciding with Children’s Day celebrations. The film has already made waves on the global stage, securing six prestigious international accolades prior to its release.

Produced by Suriya Narayanan and Vinod Sekar, Kinaru is presented by Madras Stories—a production house noted for championing emerging cinematic talent and recognised for works such as Burkha and Lineman.

A special celebrity premiere was recently hosted in Chennai, attracting several leading names from the Tamil film industry. In a heartwarming gesture, 30 children joined the screening, enjoying the film alongside the stars. The premiere concluded with widespread praise, as guests commended the cast and crew for their compelling storytelling.

The film’s impressive award tally includes honours for Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Direction at internationally respected platforms like the Pegasus Film Festival 2024, the Accolade Global Film Competition, and the IndieFEST Film Awards. Additionally, Kinaru earned a coveted spot in the World Cinema Competition segment of the Chennai International Film Festival 2024.

Speaking on the film’s essence, director Harikumaran shared that Kinaru revolves around themes of childhood, camaraderie, trust, and family ties. It narrates the journey of four village children who, after being mocked and barred from playing near a neighbour’s well, embark on a mission to dig one of their own. Their quest is fraught with challenges, but the tale unfolds from the pure and hopeful perspective of children, blending touching emotional moments with light-hearted humour. “It’s a film for the whole family—not just for kids,” the filmmaker affirmed.

The production also boasts a highly skilled technical crew. Cinematographer Gautham Venkatesh has brought the narrative to life with vivid, striking images, while composer Bhuvanesh Selvanesan delivers a charming musical score that complements the film’s warmth. Editing is handled by K.S. Gautham Raj, with Daniel overseeing sound mixing and Kishore Kamaraj shaping the sound design.

With its universal appeal, heartfelt story, and proven global acclaim, Kinaru promises to be a must-watch for audiences of all ages. Be sure to mark November 14 in your calendar for this inspiring cinematic experience.
