Cartel, a Hindi-language crime thriller web series developed by Ekta Kapoor and produced by ALT Balaji, made a notable splash in the Indian OTT arena following its debut on MX Player in 2021. With its captivating narrative, exceptional performances, and high-octane action sequences, Cartel rapidly attracted a large following. The season finale kept viewers on the edge of their seats, generating significant excitement for Cartel Season 2.

The short answer is affirmative—Cartel Season 2 is indeed in the works. Although its release was initially slated for January 2, 2022, it experienced an unexpected delay. A significant factor contributing to this postponement seems to be the transition and management changes within MX Player, the platform that premiered Season 1. Despite the prolonged hiatus and lingering uncertainty, recent news indicates that Season 2 is being actively developed and will be launched soon.

While the creators have yet to announce an official release date, reports suggest that Cartel Season 2 was likely to premiere sometime between April and May 2024 itself and got postponed indefinitely. The production delays over the last two years have been frustrating for fans, but the promising news is that the wait might finally be nearing its conclusion.

No trailer for Cartel Season 2 has been released so far. As filming either hasn’t commenced or is still in the early stages, there is currently no teaser or official footage available. Fans are encouraged to monitor the official pages of ALT Balaji and MX Player for forthcoming announcements. In the meantime, viewers can revisit the Season 1 trailer for a refresher.

Although the complete cast list hasn’t been formally confirmed, it is anticipated that many key characters from Season 1 will make a return, based on the storyline’s conclusion. Likely returning cast members include:

  • Rithvik Dhanjani as Abhay Angre
  • Supriya Pathak as Rani Mai
  • Tanuj Virwani as Ex-Major Arjun
  • Jitendra Joshi as Madhukar Mhatre
  • Divya Agarwal as Grizzey
  • Monica Dogra, Sushrii Mishra, Samir Soni, Shubhrajyoti Barat, and others.

This ensemble cast is expected to recapture the intensity and intricacy that contributed to Season 1’s success.

Season 1 concluded dramatically with a cliffhanger, showcasing the battle for the underworld and the demise of one of the gang lords in a brutal attack. The narrative revolved around five gang lords navigating Mumbai’s underworld, maintaining a fragile balance of power. With the cliffhanger resolved, the subsequent seasons are anticipated to explore its aftermath, particularly how the surviving gang leaders contend with betrayal, foes, and evolving alliances.

If you enjoyed the first season and are eagerly anticipating Season 2, prepare for more violence, confrontations, and surprising twists as Cartel delves even deeper into the perilous realm of organized crime amidst the rising tide of criminal culture in society.

Although Cartel Season 2 has faced delays, it has not been canceled. If viewers express enough interest and the producers recognize the demand for Cartel as discussions surrounding the series amplify, the new season will materialize. We have confidence that the creators of Cartel are committed to delivering a remarkable next season that meets audience expectations. Please keep an eye out for official updates regarding trailers, release dates, and other news from the producers. Though the wait may be lengthy, it promises to be worthwhile!
