Putting an end to all the suspense, Narappa has come out with the premiere date and it would be on July 20 on Amazon Prime Video digital platform. A lot many speculations are making rounds as Suresh Babu of Suresh Productions who has bankrolled this project along with Kalaipuli S. Thanu has missed the earlier date of announcement of its release due to pressure mounted on him by the exhibitors who are against the release of the film on OTT.

Contrary to all the speculations, Narappa starring Venkatesh which is a remake of Asuran in Tamil based on the novel Vekkai by Poomani has chosen the OTT way in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and shut down of theaters. Even the Government has given instructions for opening of the  theatres in both Telugu States, the ticket rates issue in Andhra Pradesh and 50% occupancy clause and other issues have become a major hindrance for the theatrical release. As a result, Narappa will be premiered on OTT and according to the reports, a decent amount was also paid by the streaming giant tilting the scales in its favour.

Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Sampath Raj, Murali Sharma, Rao Ramesh, Rajeev Kanakala, and Karthik Ratnam will share the screen with Venkatesh, playing the titular role who raises his voice against oppression and lead the fight over exploitation perpetrated by the rich and upper cast landlords in the village.

Srikanth Addala is the director of Narappa while Mani Sharma has composed the music and Shyam K Naidu handled the cinematography. Srikanth Addala who made back to back successful films Kotha Bangaru Lokam and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu has dished out disasters later like Mukunda and Brahmotsavam which made him elusive for quite some time. But its Venkatesh, who brought him back and gave the opportunity to direct Narappa and this is going to be the litmus test for Srikanth as he has to prove that he is not a 2-film wonder..

Narappa will present ‘Victory’ Venkatesh in a never before rustic role which will become another feather in his chequered cap as it will demonstrate his versatile acting skills to the fullest extent in the film. He expressed his gratitude in his tweet for showering overwhelming love on the film while revealing the date of premiere, “All my well-wishers and fans have been eagerly waiting to watch our film, #Narappa. Your love towards this film has been overwhelming for me and the team, who always ensured to go an extra mile just like Narappa”.

The trailer of Narappa will be released in a few days while the first single of the film ‘Chalaaki Chinnammi’ released under Suresh Productions Music label has been creating waves across all music channels.
