A laugh riot in dark mode

Disney+ Hotstar is making sure that sulking is not an option for subscribers during this quarantine, with some great back to back releases on their streaming platform with an impressive line-up of new releases every month.
The streaming platform recently released the OTT dark comedy movie titled Bahut Hua Samman that will not only tickle your funny bones but will also manage to make you think through the movie. With an impressive cast, the movie is a must-watch for everyone!

Storyline

The attempt of bank loot instigated by Banchod Baba (Sanjay Mishra) throws Bony (Raghav Juyal) and Fundoo (Abhishek Chauhan) into the rigmarole of trouble creating a laugh riot all through! Sanjay Mishra makes the whole fiasco more hilarious and proves to be too dangerous to handle as well!  Nidhi Singh also grabs attention as the badass police inspector Bobby Tiwari who surely knows how to tackle goons!

Performances

With talented actors like Abhishek Chauhan, Raghav Juyal, Sanjay Mishra, Ram Kapoor, and Nidhi Singh, all coming together under the able direction of Ashish Shukla, it’s fun unlimited with some reservations.

Direction and Technical Aspects

The deft writing of Avinash Singh and Vijay Narayan Verma is evident in the satirical touch added to the story that is quite contemporary and appealing. The underlying dark humour handled brilliantly by the director Ashish Shukla makes this film stand apart in this genre.

The movie has some old song remixes giving it a nostalgic feel along with the beautiful scenic beauty of Varanasi. Moreover, the raunchy and raw environment got elevated as it was shot in sepia mode laced with quirky musical numbers which tried to bring back the quintessential 70s feel with the remix of an old peppy song.

The OTT flick has the classic old masala movie feel along with a story that is gripping enough till the end. This was made possible by Mannan Munjal’s effervescent background score along with slick editing by Suchitra Sathe and excellent camera work by Parasher Baruah. They deserve all the credit for making Bahut Hua Samman a refreshing watch.

Verdict & Rating

Bahut Hua Samman is short, crisp, and fully entertaining. With money and deceit being the central theme, the performances of all actors shine bright in their respective roles. The movie is a must-watch for wholesome entertainment with a simple plot and loads of fun which keep the viewer hooked till the very end with hilarious one-liners and more! It’s worth your attention and time which will leave you laughing and enjoying the humorous antics for sure! Don’t miss out on the twist at the end!

Rating: 4/5
