FX Unveils New Limited Series on JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s Legendary Romance
One of the most captivating real-life love stories of the late 20th century is getting the dramatic spotlight in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, a new limited series from FX and visionary creator Ryan Murphy. Set to debut globally on Thursday, February 12, the series will launch with a three-episode simulcast airing at 9 p.m. EST across FX and Hulu in the U.S., with international audiences tuning in on Disney+. Indian viewers can watch this limited series on JioHotstar (TBA).
This marks the first installment in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story anthology, a collection of emotionally rich, historically inspired narratives spotlighting transformative relationships. Adapted from Elizabeth Beller’s biography Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the nine-episode series traces the passionate, whirlwind romance between America’s perennial bachelor and the poised, stylish woman who captured his heart.
John F. Kennedy Jr., portrayed by Paul Anthony Kelly, was more than a political heir—he was a symbol of American legacy and charm. From childhood tragedy to adulthood fame, the public watched his every move. Meanwhile, Carolyn Bessette, played by Sarah Pidgeon, broke molds as a quietly powerful figure in the fashion world. Rising from Calvin Klein sales assistant to executive and muse, she embodied minimalist elegance and fierce independence.
Their connection was instant and intense, unfolding under the relentless glare of the media. As their relationship blossomed, so did public fascination—transforming a private courtship into a global spectacle. The series delves into the pressures of fame, the cost of intimacy in the public eye, and the emotional toll that celebrity can exact on even the strongest bonds.
A powerhouse ensemble brings this poignant tale to life: Grace Gummer portrays Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts takes on the iconic Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola plays Calvin Klein, and Constance Zimmer appears as Kennedy family confidante Ann Marie Messina.
Created by Connor Hines and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Max Winkler—who also directed the pilot—the series is a 20th Television production blending historical depth with emotional storytelling. New episodes will be released weekly following the premiere event.
With its blend of romance, tragedy, and cultural significance, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette promises to be one of the most compelling series of the year—an intimate portrait of love that became legend.
