The year 2025 is shaping up to be extraordinary for Beatles enthusiasts. A wave of new projects celebrating the legendary group is on the horizon, from fresh Anthology documentaries and albums to Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated Beatles biopics. Adding to the excitement, fans have just learned that Man on the Run—a new documentary centered on Paul McCartney—will be arriving soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM has acquired the film, ensuring that audiences won’t have to wait long to see it.
The documentary is scheduled for a theatrical release in February, giving fans just a few months to prepare. Directed by Oscar-winner Morgan Neville, Man on the Run focuses on McCartney’s life and music in the years immediately following The Beatles’ breakup. The film will make its debut at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend, setting the stage for its wider release. Its title pays homage to “Band on the Run,” the landmark album by Paul McCartney & Wings. To complement the film, McCartney will also publish a new book, “Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run,” which dives deeper into that chapter of his career.
The documentary promises rare insights into McCartney’s post-Beatles journey. It includes never-before-seen footage from the 1970s, chronicling his early solo projects, his collaboration with wife Linda, and the formation of Wings. Although Wings didn’t reach the same iconic status as The Beatles, they became one of the most influential bands of their decade.
As The Hollywood Reporter revealed, Neville was granted unprecedented access to personal archives and exclusive materials, offering an intimate perspective on McCartney’s evolution as an artist after leaving the world’s biggest band.
Fans will be able to stream Man on the Run on Prime Video starting February 25, while McCartney’s companion book will hit shelves on November 4. With new Anthology releases also arriving that same month, the coming winter looks like a treasure trove for Beatles devotees.
