Yuvan Shankar Raja has made his debut as a playback singer of a Telugu song, under the musical direction of his father, Ilaiyaraaja, for the film Shashtipoorthi.
Having followed in his father’s illustrious footsteps, Yuvan has established his own identity in the music industry and has lent his voice to numerous chart-topping hits. Although he has previously performed a few Tamil songs under Ilaiyaraaja’s compositions, this marks his first venture into Telugu music. Producer Rupeysh and director Pavan Prabha expressed their immense joy at the opportunity to facilitate this collaboration.
Shashtipoorthi, featuring Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Archana in lead roles, along with Rupeysh and Aakanksha Singh as the main couple, is produced by Rupeysh under the MAA AAIE Productions banner and directed by Pavan Prabha. The film is scheduled for release on the 30th of this month, and so far, two songs and a teaser have been unveiled, generating a positive response.
The recently released third song is titled: “Raathranta Rachche – Mari Nuvvante Picche, Nee Maate Nachche – Madi Marumallai Vichche, Chooste Padatha – Chesthe Chedata Kata Kata..! Pada – Dosti Kadatha – Kusti Padatha – Valapu Vaakita..!” This track, penned by Chaitanya Prasad, features vocals by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Nithya Shree and was launched online by Junglee Music.
On this occasion, Yuvan Shankar Raja expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled to have sung this Telugu song under my father’s musical direction. It’s a really cool track, and I believe you will all enjoy it. I’m delighted to be part of the ‘Shashtipoorthi’ team.”
Director Pavan Prabha and producer-hero Rupeysh shared further insights, saying, “Ilaiyaraaja sir provided us with this melody on the very day the film was launched. We immediately thought Yuvan Shankar Raja’s voice would be ideal for the mood and situation of this song. Initially, Ilaiyaraaja had a new Tamil singer record it, but we managed to convince him to let Yuvan take the lead. Once you listen, you’ll realize how beautifully Yuvan performed. While the first two songs are at one level, this one is brimming with romantic energy. We invested the most resources in this song compared to the entire film. Celebrated art director Thota Tharani designed four elaborate sets for it, resulting in a visually rich and appealing piece.”
