Set against the haunting backdrop of Charandaspur, a series of ritualistic murders linked to an ancient secret society unveils a conspiracy shaped by destiny. Premiering on July 25, Mandala Murders offers a unique twist on the crime thriller genre, inviting viewers into a captivating world where each clue uncovers a long-buried prophecy.
Detectives Rea Thomas (Vaani Kapoor) and Vikram Singh (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) are entangled in a complex network of secrets as they investigate a series of bizarre killings. Their pursuit reveals layers of intrigue, akin to the intricate patterns of a mandala, as they decipher enigmatic symbols and hidden agendas, confronting a clandestine society that dangerously blurs the distinction between faith and insanity.
The series showcases Vaani Kapoor in a compelling new role alongside a talented ensemble that includes Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Surveen Chawla, and Shriya Pilgaokar, who portray key characters at the core of the mystery.
Earlier this year, reports indicated that the Mandala Murders team reconvened to film additional scenes after concluding principal photography in early 2023. The crew shot various segments across different locations in Mumbai.
A production insider shared, “The Yash Raj series, featuring Vaani’s character investigating a sequence of murders, has been a significant project due to its action-packed scenes and intricate storytelling. Upon reaching the editing phase this year, the creative team realized that certain segments needed refinement to augment the tension and intensity of the crime thriller. Consequently, a decision was made to rework those scenes and insert new sequences.”
Mandala Murders marks a significant milestone for Kapoor as she embarks on long-format storytelling for the first time. According to the source, “The final shooting stage in Madh Island involves critical scenes that connect the intricately woven plot. Another week of filming remains before the material is ready for release.”
