Fans of Korean dramas have a lot to look forward to in the latter half of 2025, as Netflix expands its lineup with a wave of highly anticipated TVN titles. Among the standout releases arriving this fall is Typhoon Family, a new drama headlined by Lee Jun Ho and Kim Min Ha. Following months of speculation, the official release window for this family-centered story has finally been confirmed, and viewers can expect it to arrive globally on October 11, 2025.

Netflix Release Date for Typhoon Family

Originally slated for October 4, 2025, Typhoon Family experienced a brief one-week delay. Netflix has now set the official premiere date for October 11, 2025, with new episodes airing weekly through November 30, 2025. The drama will feature 16 episodes, each running approximately 60 minutes. This schedule ensures a steady rollout that will keep audiences engaged throughout the fall.

Storyline Overview

Previously titled Typhoon Boss, this upcoming Netflix Original is directed by veteran filmmaker Lee Na Jung. The series dives into the struggles of Kang Tae Pung (played by Lee Jun Ho), the current head of the family-run Typhoon Company. After inheriting the business from his late father—who cherished the company as much as his own household—Tae Pung faces constant challenges to keep it afloat. The drama is set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis (IMF crisis), adding depth to its themes of resilience, responsibility, and survival in a time of economic uncertainty.

Alongside this central arc, the series weaves in themes of love, loyalty, generational conflict, and the sacrifices made for family legacy.

Cast and Characters

  • Lee Jun Ho stars as Kang Tae Pung. Best known for roles in The Red Sleeve, Confession, and King the Land, Jun Ho continues his rise as one of K-drama’s most sought-after leading men. He is also set to appear in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon Cashero.
  • Kim Min Ha portrays Oh Mi Suk, marking her first time leading a Netflix production. The actress has already gained recognition through projects such as Pachinko, Light Shop, and Way Back Love, and she will also appear in the upcoming Netflix series Perfect Job.

Supporting roles include celebrated names such as:

  • Sung Dong Il as Kang Jin Yeong
  • Kim Ji Young as Jung Jeong Mi
  • Kim Min Seok as Wang Nam Mo
  • Mu Jin Sung as Pyo Hyeon Jun
  • Jin Seon Kyu in an undisclosed role

Why You Should Watch Typhoon Family

With a blend of heartfelt storytelling, powerful performances, and a nostalgic setting in the late 1990s, Typhoon Family is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s must-watch K-dramas of 2025. The combination of Lee Jun Ho’s proven versatility and Kim Min Ha’s rising star power makes this drama particularly exciting for fans of emotional, character-driven series.

Final Thoughts

If you enjoy stories that mix family bonds, corporate struggles, and historical context, Typhoon Family on Netflix should be high on your watchlist. Circle October 11, 2025 on your calendar—this drama promises not just entertainment but also a heartfelt journey through hope, hardship, and resilience.
