TVING has officially dropped the first teaser for its highly anticipated original series Dear X, directed by Lee Eung Bok and Park So Hyun, with the script penned by Choi Ja Won and Ban Ji Woon. The teaser quickly caught the public’s attention, offering a chilling first look at Kim Yoo Jung’s multifaceted role as Baek Ah Jin, a character whose dual nature is set to drive the heart of the story.

A Dark Tale of Ambition and Betrayal

Dear X follows the turbulent journey of Baek Ah Jin, a woman who carefully hides her true self while relentlessly clawing her way from rock bottom to the peak of fame. As she rises, those left shattered in her shadow are referred to as the mysterious “X” figures — victims of her ruthless ambition.

At the center of the narrative is the downfall of South Korea’s most celebrated actress, a star who conceals a cruel streak beneath her flawless public persona. Alongside her, Yoon Jun Seo (played by Kim Young Dae) becomes entangled in a tragic love story, sacrificing his own well-being by choosing “hell” in an effort to protect her. Marketed as a “ruinous melodrama suspense,” the drama is already drawing significant buzz and curiosity from fans.

The Teaser: Glamour Meets Darkness

The newly unveiled trailer captures Baek Ah Jin’s sharp contrasts — from dazzling elegance on the red carpet to the dark secrets that haunt her. Amid flashing cameras, she appears radiant in an exquisite gown, confidently declaring: “I want to be reborn at the very top.” Her words reflect her fierce hunger for success, even as her carefully guarded past begins to unravel.

The intensity deepens as the teaser shifts to her school years. Behind her youthful smile lies a hollow gaze, hinting at the struggles hidden beneath her facade. Classmates’ whispers paint a darker picture: accusations of manipulation, extortion, and a carefully crafted false image. Descriptions such as “a devil in disguise” raise pressing questions about who Baek Ah Jin truly is — an innocent victim of rumors or someone far more dangerous.

Anticipation Builds Ahead of Release

This layered portrait of Baek Ah Jin’s character — both alluring and terrifying — suggests that Dear X will be more than a typical K-drama. It promises an intense blend of suspense, romance, and psychological intrigue, appealing to fans of melodramas with a darker edge.

With Kim Yoo Jung portraying a role unlike any she has taken on before, and Kim Young Dae stepping into a pivotal romantic yet tragic character, audiences are eagerly awaiting the premiere.

Dear X will launch exclusively on TVING and Netflix (yet to be confirmed) on November 6, and based on this first look, it’s shaping up to be one of the most talked-about dramas of the year.
