Netflix’s latest South Korean thriller has taken the streaming charts by storm, achieving remarkable success less than a week after its debut.

According to FlixPatrol, the newly released Wall to Wall has officially secured the third position among Netflix’s top streaming films. Currently, Wall to Wall is positioned just behind KPop Demon Hunters and Brick, which hold the first and second spots, respectively. It stands significantly ahead of the fourth and fifth ranking films, Família, Pero no Mucho and Trainwreck: P.I. Moms.

Wall to Wall was penned by Kim Tae-joon, who co-directed the film alongside Sharon S. Park. The story features Kang Ha-neul as Noh Woo-sung, a thirty-something man who sells his mother’s garlic harvest, spends his life savings, and borrows extensively to fulfill his dream of acquiring an 84-square-meter apartment in Seoul. Initially thrilled at the prospect of having his own space, Noh’s excitement quickly turns into a nightmarish ordeal shortly after he moves in.

Before long, Noh is haunted by an array of unsettling noises from neighboring apartments, some seemingly emanating from within the very walls. As his mental health deteriorates, he plunges deeper into debt, suffers from insomnia, and becomes increasingly hostile toward his neighbors. Eventually, the only friendly neighbor he has, journalist Jin-ho, portrayed by Seo-Hyun-woo, teams up with Noh to unravel a sinister conspiracy rooted in their building and the troubling dynamics with their other neighbors. Alongside Ha-neul and Seo-Hyun-woo, the film also features performances by Ryu Seung-hyun, Jung Sung-il, Kim Hyun-jung, and Yoon Jeong-il in prominent roles.

Since its release on July 18, Wall to Wall has garnered mostly favorable critiques from reviewers. Although it does not yet have enough ratings on Rotten Tomatoes to secure an official score, the majority of reviews submitted thus far have been overwhelmingly positive. This trend is similarly reflected in user ratings, which are generally favorable despite some criticism regarding the numerous plotlines and story arcs introduced in Wall to Wall that fail to develop as expected.

Wall to Wall is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
