HBO’s critically acclaimed anthology series The White Lotus is officially moving forward with its highly anticipated fourth season, and the casting process is already making headlines. The network has confirmed the first two additions to the Season 4 lineup: Vikings star Alexander Ludwig and multi-talented performer AJ Michalka, marking the beginning of what promises to be another star-studded ensemble.
Since its debut in July 2021, The White Lotus has become a cultural phenomenon, blending sharp satire with dark comedic storytelling. Previous seasons have attracted an impressive roster of talent, including Sydney Sweeney, Alexandra Daddario, and Aubrey Plaza. Season 4 appears to be continuing this trend, securing notable names early in production.
Alexander Ludwig, widely recognized for his portrayal of Björn Ironside in Vikings and Ace Spade in Starz’s Heels, has built a diverse acting portfolio. His film credits include Bad Boys for Life, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. AJ Michalka, meanwhile, is known not only for her musical work alongside sister Aly but also for her appearances in films such as The Lovely Bones, Super 8, and Secretariat.
News of Ludwig and Michalka’s casting comes just a week after reports surfaced that Helena Bonham Carter—best known for her role in the Harry Potter franchise—is in talks to take on a major role in the upcoming season. While HBO has yet to reveal specific details about Ludwig and Michalka’s characters, both actors have expressed their excitement on social media. Michalka posted, “Checking in! Let’s party, Mike,” while Ludwig shared, “Beyond honored. Huge thank you to Mike for your trust in me, and can’t wait to bring this unbelievable material to life.”
Although plot specifics remain under wraps, Variety has reported that Season 4 will be set in France. The official synopsis teases another week-long journey into the lives of a fresh group of guests and staff at a new White Lotus property. Show creator Mike White hinted at a tonal shift for the upcoming season, saying in a video breakdown of the Season 3 finale that he plans to move away from the “crashing waves against rocks” aesthetic seen in earlier seasons.
With the setting confirmed and casting now underway, The White Lotus Season 4 is shaping up to be another must-watch installment in HBO’s hit series. Fans can expect more biting humor, unexpected twists, and the signature blend of luxury and chaos that has defined the show since its inception.
