The wait for the most pivotal chapter in the history of The Chosen finally has an end date. Prime Video and 5&2 Studios have officially announced that The Chosen Season Six will premiere on November 15, 2026. This announcement, accompanied by a haunting new teaser image, marks the beginning of the end for the groundbreaking historical drama as it moves into the final hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
A High-Stakes Global Premiere
Fans across the globe won’t have to wait through staggered releases to witness the start of the season. On November 15, 2026, the series will debut its first three episodes simultaneously in the U.S. and internationally. Following this triple-header premiere, the remaining episodes will transition to a weekly release schedule, concluding on December 6.
In a move that highlights the cinematic quality of the production, the creators have confirmed that the season finale will not debut on streaming alone. Instead, the final episode of Season Six will serve as a standalone theatrical event in the spring of 2027. This strategy ensures that the climax of the season—the crucifixion—receives the gravity and scale of the silver screen.
The Story: 24 Hours That Changed the World
While previous seasons have spanned months of ministry, The Chosen Season Six narrows its lens significantly. The entire six-episode arc is dedicated to the final day of Jesus’ life. This season promises to go beyond the “basics” of the historical account to explore the internal struggles, political machinations, and raw emotions of those present.
Creator Dallas Jenkins noted that the complexity of these final 24 hours required a unique approach. “The hour has come,” the official synopsis reads, painting a picture of a world divided: the Pharisees call the coming events justice, the Romans see it as the price of peace, and Jesus’ followers call it murder. Amidst the chaos, the season focuses on Jesus’ resolute commitment to a plan that leads inevitably to the cross.
A Returning Cast of Historical Icons
The emotional weight of the season is carried by a seasoned cast. Jonathan Roumie returns to his career-defining role as Jesus, joined by series regulars Shahar Isaac (Peter), Paras Patel (Matthew), and Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene).
As the narrative shifts toward the Passion, the antagonists take center stage. The season will feature Richard Fancy as the high priest Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod, and Andrew James Allen as the conflicted Pontius Pilate. Returning as the betrayer, Luke Dimyan’s portrayal of Judas is expected to be a focal point of the season’s tension.
The Expanding Universe of 5&2 Studios
The premiere of Season Six is part of a massive “first-look” deal between Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios. This partnership has solidified Prime Video as the streaming home for The Chosen in the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Beyond the main series, the deal includes an array of upcoming projects that expand the biblical universe. Fans can look forward to The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, an animated series titled The Chosen Adventures, and the epic miniseries Joseph of Egypt. Currently, The Chosen Seasons One through Five are available to stream on Prime Video, allowing new viewers to catch up before the historic 2026 premiere.
