The creators of Andhera, which stars Prajakta Koli, Surveen Chawla, Priya Bapat and Karanvir Malhotra, have announced that the supernatural‑horror‑investigation series will debut on Prime Video on August 14.
Joining the lead cast are Vatsal Sheth, Parvin Dabas and Pranay Pachauri in key supporting roles. The eight‑episode, pulse‑pounding drama was scripted by Gaurav Desai, Raaghav Dar, Chintan Sarda and Karan Anshuman, with Raaghav Dar directing.
“Working on Andhera has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said creator Gaurav Desai. He added that his long‑standing fascination with horror and the supernatural made finally bringing a project in those genres to life feel almost surreal.
“From the outset we wanted to craft something that wasn’t merely frightening, but that lingered—something that unsettles you quietly and persistently. The real test was to tap into a raw, primal fear and translate it onto the screen while staying true to an emotional core.”
Desai continued: “At its heart, Andhera is driven by its story. The tension, the twists, the gradual revelations—that’s what I hope will keep viewers engaged. We assembled an instinctive, dedicated cast and a crew that worked tirelessly to make this world feel fresh, alive, and unmistakably human.”
The series is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Kassim Jagmagia, Mohit Shah and Karan Anshuman for Excel Entertainment, with Vishal Ramchandani serving as associate producer.
“With Andhera we set out to expand the horizons of genre storytelling in India. This isn’t just a supernatural thriller; it’s a layered exploration of fear, power and the human psyche. Backed by an exceptional ensemble and a bold cinematic vision, the show examines what happens when darkness exists not only around us but within us,” explained Kassim Jagmagia, executive producer at Excel Entertainment.
“Supernatural horror is an incredibly exciting space that we’ve been venturing into, and audience response has been very encouraging,” said Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals for Prime Video India.
“Through Andhera we aim to deepen that momentum, offering viewers a story that is both compelling and emotionally resonant. Packed with twists and turns, the gripping drama delivers an intense, immersive and thought‑provoking experience. We’re thrilled to partner with Excel Entertainment once more as we continue to push the boundaries of storytelling in India and beyond.”
