Bollywood rom-com lovers, mark your calendars! Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed and written by Shashank Khaitan, has hit the theatres on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti. Starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in leading roles, the film promises a cocktail of romance, hilarious twists, and colorful festive vibes. But is it worth the hype? Let’s dive into the full review.

Story

The film introduces us to Sunny Sanskari (Varun Dhawan), who is ready to propose to his longtime girlfriend Ananya (Sanya Malhotra). However, his romantic dream comes crashing down when she rejects him and instead decides to marry billionaire Vikram Singh (Rohit Saraf).

Things take a quirky turn when Sunny crosses paths with Tulsi Kumari (Janhvi Kapoor), who happens to be Vikram’s ex-girlfriend. Together, Sunny and Tulsi hatch a mischievous plan to stop Vikram and Ananya’s wedding, while secretly hoping to win their lost loves back.

The plot is peppered with witty dialogues, pop culture nods, and Bollywood film references, ensuring that the narrative never loses its playful essence.

Performances

Varun Dhawan nails the role of Sunny, showcasing his effortless comic timing and natural charm. His portrayal ensures that the audience instantly connects with his fun-loving yet emotional character.

Janhvi Kapoor delivers one of her most engaging performances yet. As Tulsi Kumari, she balances vulnerability with strength, making her role far more layered than a typical rom-com heroine.

Sanya Malhotra shines as Ananya, particularly in a heartfelt confrontation scene that adds much-needed emotional depth. Rohit Saraf, while convincing as Vikram, could have been given a more fleshed-out arc. Maniesh Paul, in his role as the lively wedding planner Kuku, adds extra humor, keeping the laughs alive throughout.

Behind the Scenes

One of the film’s highlights is its vibrant cinematography. Shot in picturesque locales, the visuals perfectly match the movie’s festive energy.

The soundtrack is equally engaging, ranging from foot-tapping numbers like “Bijuria” and “Panwadi” to soulful tracks such as “Tu Hai Meri” and “Ishq Manzoor.” The songs uplift the mood, making them key contributors to the overall cinematic experience.

While the first half sets a breezy pace filled with comic energy, the second half falters slightly, with certain sequences (like the drunken banter scene) feeling stretched. However, the story regains momentum with surprising twists and an enjoyable climax.

Final Verdict

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is a delightful blend of romance, humor, drama, and emotions—a perfect formula for festive season entertainment. Though not without its minor flaws, the film’s strong performances, engaging screenplay, and peppy music make it a satisfying watch.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted, family-friendly Bollywood entertainer, this one should be on your festive movie list.
