A Tour That Never Was
Hopes for a major Spice Girls 30th-anniversary reunion tour have been definitively dashed. According to recent reports, the iconic nineties quintet—comprising Geri Horner, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham—have abandoned all plans for a celebratory concert series after failing to reach a mutual agreement on the comeback’s structure.
This disappointing news for fans follows the earlier collapse of a planned Netflix documentary project intended to mark the three-decade milestone since the release of their debut single, “Wannabe.”
Behind the Scenes of the Breakdown
Insiders suggest that disagreements among the band members were the primary catalyst for the tour’s cancellation. While Mel B has publicly expressed eagerness for a reunion, others, notably Victoria Beckham, have consistently prioritized their independent careers. Beckham has previously stated that her focus remains on her fashion empire, expressing doubt about her ability to commit to a full world tour.
Further complicating matters were reported tensions, particularly between Geri Horner and Mel B. Sources indicate these lingering issues made it difficult to secure a manager capable of mediating and finalizing such a large-scale project.
What The Members Are Saying
Mel C (Melanie Chisholm) has been the most vocal member regarding the group’s status. During a radio appearance on The Smallzy Show, she confirmed, “No, there is no reunion.” However, she struck an optimistic note for the future, adding, “We are communicating all the time… I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point.”
Her sentiments echo previous interviews where she expressed a heartfelt desire to perform with all five members again, calling their 2019 stadium tour a “joyous experience.”
Victoria Beckham, meanwhile, has recently shown slight hints of involvement, joining an Instagram singalong with the other members at her London home—a moment that briefly ignited fan speculation.
A Legacy Celebrated Elsewhere
With the tour and Netflix project shelved, the official commemoration of the group’s anniversary appears limited. Thus far, the only confirmed tribute is a special collectible coin issued by the Royal Mint.
While the dream of a full-scale 30th-anniversary tour is over, the door may not be completely closed. As Mel C stated, the members remain in communication, holding out hope that the right opportunity to celebrate their monumental legacy together will eventually arise.
