After winning hearts with the sports comedy-drama Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan Productions is set to revisit the emotional world of the film — but this time, from a completely new perspective. The production house has released the official trailer for Sitaaron Ke Sitaare, a moving documentary that celebrates the unsung heroes behind the young cast — their parents.
The upcoming documentary shifts the spotlight to the real-life journeys of the families whose children lit up the screen in Sitaare Zameen Par. Through candid storytelling, Sitaaron Ke Sitaare explores the parents’ sacrifices, their pride, their challenges, and the tender moments that shaped their children’s success. From enduring the pressures of auditions to navigating the demands of a film set, these parents stood as pillars of strength while their children chased their dreams.
Directed by Shaanib Bakshi, the project is yet another example of Aamir Khan Productions’ commitment to unconventional and heartfelt narratives. The film builds on the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, which resonated with audiences for its blend of entertainment and emotion.
Interestingly, the studio had earlier made Sitaare Zameen Par available online through its “Janta Ka Theater” initiative — a bold move that challenged traditional distribution models by offering the film on YouTube at an affordable price. This approach significantly widened its reach, making it accessible to audiences across India.
In the newly released trailer, viewers get a glimpse of the parents’ world — one filled with laughter, tears, and proud milestones. The snippets capture the reality of raising young talent in the demanding world of cinema, and the bittersweet experience of watching them transition from children to stars.
Sitaaron Ke Sitaare will premiere exclusively on Aamir Khan Talkies’ YouTube channel on December 19, 2025. The documentary also serves as an archival tribute to the making of Sitaare Zameen Par, which featured Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles and introduced ten promising newcomers — Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Directed by R. S. Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan fame, the original film hit theatres on June 20, 2025, and quickly became a family favourite.
With Sitaaron Ke Sitaare, Aamir Khan Productions invites audiences to look beyond the spotlight and witness the extraordinary personal stories that made the cinematic magic possible.
