The recently released family film Shashtipoorthi, featuring Rajendra Prasad in the leading role, debuted in theaters today May 30. Directed by Pawan Prabha and produced by Rupesh under the banner of Maa Aai Productions, the film also stars Archana, Aakanksha Singh, and Roopesh in prominent roles. It beautifully weaves together themes of family values and deep emotions.

Story

The story follows Sriram (played by Roopesh), an honest public prosecutor who faces numerous challenges in his career. His life takes a turn when he meets a young girl named Janaki (portrayed by Aakanksha Singh), whose beauty captivates him at first glance. Janaki comes to Sriram for assistance with a personal issue regarding Bhoomi, and he steps up to confront the injustices she faces. As their love flourishes and they contemplate marriage, Sriram’s family encounters significant obstacles, particularly due to his parents’ separation. The narrative unfolds to explore how they navigate these challenges and ultimately celebrate their union.

Performances

Rajendra Prasad shines as Sriram’s father, delivering a compelling performance that captures the essence of family dynamics. Roopesh, making his acting debut, impresses in several scenes with his natural portrayal. Aakanksha Singh also shines, bringing her character to life with grace and beauty.

Behind the scenes

The film’s music, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, complements the storyline effectively. Among the tracks is an enticing song by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The cinematography by Raam and production quality are commendable, with commercial elements integrated in a manner that feels organic to the family drama.

Final Analysis

Shashtipoorthi marks a significant cultural event for Telugu people, celebrating the completion of 60 years, a milestone traditionally recognized in the community. Pawan Prabha’s direction not only conveys a heartfelt family narrative but also highlights the richness of Telugu culture. Apart from these plus points, Shashtipoorthi has nothing spectacular to offer and the story looks quite outdated atleast on the screen.

In summary, Shashtipoorthi is a film meant for families to enjoy together in theaters. It serves as a poignant reminder of our cultural heritage, values, and the importance of familial bonds. This emotional family-centric movie is sure to resonate with a particular section of audiences in Tollywood.
