Santosh OTT Release – All You Need to Know
Shahana Goswami’s much-anticipated Hindi film Santosh is finally set to stream digitally after earning global acclaim. The powerful police drama, helmed and written by Sandhya Suri, will debut on Lionsgate Play on October 17, 2025, coinciding with the Diwali season.
The BAFTA-nominated film made its world debut at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, marking the directorial debut of filmmaker Sandhya Suri. Praised for its honest storytelling and nuanced performances, Santosh went on to screen at prestigious events such as the BFI London Film Festival and the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Though initially planned for a theatrical release in India in early 2025, its premiere was delayed due to censorship hurdles.
Plot and Performances
Santosh centers around a young widow, portrayed by Shahana Goswami, who steps into her late husband’s role as a police constable. Partnered with Inspector Geeta Sharma, played by Sunita Rajwar, she becomes entangled in the investigation of a Dalit teenager’s rape and murder. Through her journey, Santosh witnesses systemic corruption and the deliberate concealment of truth within the justice system.
The film, produced by Good Chaos, Cinefrance Studios, and MetFilm Production, was also shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category as the UK’s official entry.

Lead actress Shahana Goswami expressed her deep connection with the project, calling it “a story that reflects the society we live in.” She praised director Sandhya Suri for crafting a film that is “both deeply emotional and socially relevant.”
Acknowledging her co-star, Shahana added that Sunita Rajwar delivers a powerful performance as Inspector Geeta Sharma, portraying the complexities of her character with grace and intensity.

Lionsgate Play officially announced the film’s digital release on platform X (formerly Twitter), writing: “This Diwali, Santosh finally speaks – a story India has been waiting for.”
