Santhosh Narayanan Embarks on a Dream Venture

Ace music director Santhosh Narayanan, widely recognized as one of the most innovative composers in the Tamil film industry, has revealed that he has started working on a project very close to his heart. The acclaimed composer is now building an affordable and ultra-transparent music streaming platform from India, designed to reach listeners around the globe.

Sharing the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Santhosh described the initiative as one of his “dream projects,” aiming to create a fair and open ecosystem for both established names and emerging talents in the music world.

A Platform That Puts Artists First

Santhosh Narayanan has often voiced his support for independent musicians, and this new venture appears to be a natural progression of his long-standing commitment. According to him, the upcoming platform will prioritize artist payouts and ensure that subscription costs remain minimal and accessible for music lovers everywhere.

Unlike many international music apps, this service will be built, managed, and hosted entirely from India, reflecting his vision of creating a homegrown solution for the global music community. In addition, Santhosh mentioned plans to organize hackathon-style events to identify young talents who could contribute to the platform’s development and administration—an effort to blend technology, creativity, and new ideas.

Continuing His Legacy in Music

Santhosh Narayanan’s discography has made him one of the most sought-after composers in the Tamil film industry. His recent works include the soundtrack for Pandiraj’s Thalaivan Thalaivi, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, and Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro featuring Suriya and Pooja Hegde. Each project has showcased his ability to push boundaries in film music.

This new move into the music-tech space shows that Santhosh is not only focused on composing but also on shaping the industry’s future.

Building on Rakitaa Entertainment

This isn’t the first entrepreneurial leap for Santhosh Narayanan. In 2023, he launched Rakitaa Entertainment, a creative enterprise dedicated to empowering musicians. At the time, he reflected on his own struggles as a budding artist who came to Chennai in 2004 with dreams of breaking into the industry. Years of hardship, he explained, inspired him to create platforms that reduce barriers for new talent.

Rakitaa Entertainment was founded with a mission to ensure transparency, fairness in payments, and long-term support for artists. The company is also in the process of setting up a cutting-edge recording studio, envisioned as a creative hub for musicians of diverse genres.

The Bigger Vision: Democratizing Music

Santhosh Narayanan’s upcoming streaming platform is more than just a business move—it’s part of a larger vision to democratize music in India and beyond. By ensuring affordability for listeners and fairness for artists, he hopes to create an ecosystem where independent musicians and upcoming stars can thrive without facing the long wait and obstacles he once experienced.

With his proven track record as a composer and his entrepreneurial spirit, this project could set a new benchmark for Indian music streaming platforms on the global stage.

Final Thoughts

Santhosh Narayanan’s announcement marks an exciting moment for both fans and musicians. As he steps into the world of music streaming with a transparent, artist-first approach, there is growing anticipation around what this platform could mean for the future of the Indian music industry.

A catchy name for the platform is still in the works, and if history is any indicator, Santhosh will add his signature touch of creativity to it as well. For now, fans and independent musicians alike are eagerly waiting to see how this dream project unfolds.
