Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heera Mandi has been one of the most talked-about projects since its inception. In fact, it was claimed in October that the filmmaker was already casting for the web series. SLB has reportedly immersed himself in Heera Mandi now that he has finished working on Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Continuing with the cast, it is now learned that Bhansali has approached Mumtaz, the super-iconic actress from the past.

However, the yesteryears’ actress who is a heart-throb of millions, has said no to the offer from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “A huge fan of the iconic actress, who regaled us in many blockbusters in the 1960 and 1970s, SLB had approached her, but she is in no mood for a comeback. She has said no to an offer to play a prominent part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s lavish costume drama Heera Mandi for Netflix”, BH quoted a source as saying.
The insider goes on to say that the role Mumtaz was offered was a key one that required the movie star to perform an intricate Mujra. Mumtaz, on the other hand, declined, claiming that her husband would not approve of her dancing at her age.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself is directing the first episode. He may also direct the second episode, and Bhansali will also direct the last episode. Vibhu Puri, who worked as an assistant to Bhansali, will direct the remaining episodes.
