Netflix’s Asian‑Drama catalogue keeps expanding. The streaming giant just announced its newest romantic‑comedy, Romantics Anonymous, set to launch exclusively on the platform this fall—premiering on October 16, 2025.

Series Overview

A cross‑border cast from Japan and Korea brings to life an off‑beat love story about two people whose anxieties would normally keep them apart:

  • Sosuke Fujiwara (Shun Oguri) is a man who recoils from physical contact.
  • Hana (Han Hyo‑joo) is a woman who can’t stand eye contact.

In a surprising twist, each seems immune to the other’s particular phobia, allowing an unexpected romance to blossom.

Creative Team

  • Director: Sho Tsukikawa
  • Source Material: Adapted from the French film Les Emotifs Anonymes (directed by Jean‑Pierre Améris; screenplay by Améris & Philippe Blasband)
  • Production Design: Lee Ha‑jun (known for Parasite)
  • Editor: Jin‑mo Yang (also Parasite)
  • Director of Photography: Kosuke Yamada (Beyond Goodbye)
  • Music Director: Dalpalan (South Korea)
  • Developed by: Park So‑yeon
  • Produced by: YONG FILM and YONGFILM JAPAN

Plot Synopsis

The first‑look teaser introduces Sosuke Fujiwara, the heir to a major confectionery empire, who suffers from germophobia and an aversion to touch. Across the screen is Hana, a talented chocolatier whose specialty desserts have made her shop a hit—yet she hides a crippling fear of eye contact. Hana works anonymously for the upscale chocolate boutique Le Sauveur.

When Sosuke assumes leadership of Le Sauveur, he initiates a series of changes and arranges a meeting with the equally anxious Hana. To both their astonishment, Hana can finally meet his gaze, and Sosuke no longer flinches at her touch. Their day‑to‑day interactions unfold as a gentle, slow‑burning romance, gradually drawing the two together in a sweet, heartfelt way.
