The makers of An Ordinary Man unveiled the first glimpse of the film on social media this Wednesday, marking actor Ravi Mohan’s entry into direction. The intriguing clip also introduced actor-comedian Yogi Babu in the central role, setting the stage for a quirky yet meaningful cinematic journey.
The promotional video opens with Yogi Babu gazing at a clock tower, only to be summoned to the terrace through a message from Ravi Mohan. When the two meet, Mohan reveals his aspiration to direct a film and declares Yogi Babu as his protagonist. However, the twist comes when Yogi Babu realizes he is the sole performer in all the sequences envisioned so far, with other characters yet to be conceptualized.
In an attempt to build inspiration, Mohan asks Yogi Babu to experiment with different costumes. This leads to a humorous series of visuals where the comedian slips into attires from some of Mohan’s earlier films, including memorable references to Tik Tik Tik and Ponniyin Selvan. Eventually, exhausted from the trial runs, Yogi Babu appears in a simple lungi and vest. Ironically, this understated look excites Mohan and helps them lock in the title — An Ordinary Man.
The film holds special significance as it not only marks Ravi Mohan’s writing and directorial debut but is also being produced under his newly established banner. The technical team behind the project features Jay Charola handling cinematography, Hydro composing the music, and Pradeep E Ragav taking charge of editing duties. With this experienced crew on board, expectations are already running high.
While the teaser offers only a playful sneak peek, it effectively sets the tone for what seems to be a fresh take on everyday life, identity, and creativity. The official release date and details about additional cast members are anticipated soon.
With Yogi Babu’s charm and Ravi Mohan’s ambitious vision, An Ordinary Man is shaping up to be a film worth watching.
