Netflix is gearing up to release Vladimir, an eagerly anticipated limited series that promises a potent blend of intense erotic thriller and dark campus comedy. Starring the acclaimed Rachel Weisz and rising talent Leo Woodall, the series delves into the unsettling depths of obsession, lust, and the blurred lines of professional boundaries. Set to premiere globally on March 5, 2026, this adaptation of Julia May Jonas’s compelling novel is poised to captate audiences with its raw intensity and sharp wit.

A Professor’s Dangerous Fixation

At the heart of Vladimir is the story of a passionate yet increasingly reckless professor, portrayed by Rachel Weisz, whose carefully constructed world begins to unravel. Her life takes an unexpected turn as she develops a dangerous and consuming fixation on her magnetic new colleague, Vladimir, played by Leo Woodall. What begins as an intellectual or professional intrigue quickly spirals into an all-encompassing obsession, pushing her to the brink. The series masterfully explores how her determination to transform illicit fantasies into reality leads to a cascade of dark, humorous, and profoundly complicated situations, challenging societal norms and personal ethics.

Star Power and Creative Genius

The series boasts a formidable cast, with Rachel Weisz leading the charge as the complex protagonist. Her ability to convey vulnerability, intelligence, and a simmering intensity makes her an ideal choice for the role. Leo Woodall, fresh off recent successes, brings a captivating charm to Vladimir, the object of her fixation. They are joined by a talented ensemble including John Slattery, Ellen Robertson, and Jessica Henwick, further enriching the narrative tapestry. Behind the scenes, the creative team is equally impressive.

Vladimir is based on the acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas, who also serves as a writer and creator for the series, ensuring a faithful yet dynamic adaptation. She is joined in the writing room by Kate Robin, while episodes are directed by a diverse group of filmmakers including Francesca Gregorini, Shari Springer Berman, Josephine Bornebusch, and Robert Pulcini, promising a multifaceted visual style.

The series is produced by 20th Television, with executive producers including Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, Kira Carstensen (Merman), Jason Winer, Jon Radler (Small Dog Picture Company), and directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.

Blurring Lines and Forbidden Desires

Vladimir is more than just a tale of infatuation; it’s an exploration of human desire in its most unbridled forms. The series is described as being “brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters.” Viewers can expect a narrative where boundaries blur and secrets simmer, as the protagonist risks everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life. Julia May Jonas herself has articulated the core theme, noting, “It’s that feeling of being so full of creative energy because you have this lust or obsession for someone… Her mind is going wild.” This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the provocative and psychologically charged journey Vladimir promises to deliver.

Mark your calendars for March 5, 2026, when Vladimir arrives exclusively on Netflix. Prepare for a series that pushes boundaries, questions morality, and offers an unflinching look into the intoxicating and destructive power of obsession.
