Netflix has officially confirmed that the upcoming Korean fantasy romance series Beauty in the Beast is now in production, with a stellar cast lineup featuring Kim Minju, Moon Sang Min, and Lomon. The announcement, made on January 8, has quickly become one of the hottest topics among K-drama enthusiasts worldwide.
Set against a vibrant university backdrop, Beauty in the Beast tells the story of Minsoo (Kim Minju), a young woman burdened by an extraordinary secret — she transforms into a wolf. After years of living cautiously, suppressing her emotions, and avoiding situations that could expose her identity, Minsoo steps into campus life determined to embrace a new chapter.
Her journey takes a turn when she meets Haejun (Moon Sang Min), an upperclassman whose cool, distant personality hides a warm and caring nature, and Doha (Lomon), a free-spirited werewolf whose impulsive actions contrast sharply with Minsoo’s guarded demeanor. The dynamics between these three characters spark a mix of romance, tension, and self-discovery, making the series a compelling blend of youthful fantasy and heartfelt drama.
Kim Minju, widely recognized for her roles in Hear Me: Our Summer, Undercover High School, and Connection, is set to bring emotional depth and charm to Minsoo’s complex personality. Moon Sang Min, known for To My Beloved Thief, Cinderella at 2 AM, and Under the Queen’s Umbrella, will portray the quietly charismatic Haejun. Lomon, who rose to fame in Netflix’s All of Us Are Dead and is set to appear in SBS’s No Tail to Tell, will take on the role of Doha, whose intriguing relationship with Minsoo promises to be a highlight of the series.
Helmed by director Jin Hyeok, whose previous works include The Legend of the Blue Sea and The Tale of Lady Ok, and penned by writer Jin Han Sae of Extracurricular and Glitch fame, the series is expected to deliver a visually stunning and emotionally resonant narrative.
Early buzz from online communities suggests that Beauty in the Beast will be a must-watch, thanks to its unique plot, engaging cast chemistry, and high production quality. Netflix has confirmed that the series will be available exclusively on its platform, making it one of the most anticipated K-dramas of the year.
