Kate Beckinsale’s Next Big Action Role Is Locked and Loaded
Kate Beckinsale is gearing up for another adrenaline-filled adventure in her latest action thriller, Wildcat. The project—originally known as Lioness—has undergone a bold name change and finally secured its release date. The film, led by the Underworld icon alongside Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan, is set to hit theaters and digital platforms on November 25, 2025, according to Capstone Pictures.
From Lioness to Wildcat: A Fitting New Identity
The upcoming thriller follows Beckinsale as a former special ops agent whose daughter is kidnapped. Rather than relying on brute force alone, her character must reunite her elite team to execute a high-risk heist in exchange for her child’s safety. The tone evokes the “skilled parent on a mission” energy made famous by Liam Neeson’s Taken, giving Beckinsale a chance to claim the action hero parent crown for herself.
The film is being directed by James Nunn, best known for the pulse-pounding One Shot and One More Shot, both starring martial arts favorite Scott Adkins. With Nunn’s gritty, single-take action style and Beckinsale’s proven track record in physically demanding roles, Wildcat promises to deliver high-stakes tension and heart-pounding sequences.
Why the Name Change?
The title switch from Lioness to Wildcat helps the film establish its own identity, avoiding confusion with Taylor Sheridan’s popular series Special Ops: Lioness. The new title signals a fierce, untamed intensity aligned with Beckinsale’s persona and the film’s rebellious tone.
All-Star Cast and Exciting Synopsis
Joining Beckinsale and Tan are Rasmus Hardiker, Alice Krige, Bailey Patrick, Tom Bennett, Matt Willis, and Roxy Striar. The official synopsis teases: An ex–black ops unit reunites for a daring heist to rescue their leader’s young daughter before time runs out.
Beckinsale’s Action Legacy Continues
Beckinsale is no stranger to the genre, having anchored fan-favorite hits like Underworld, Van Helsing, and Total Recall. She recently returned to action in Prime Video’s Canary Black, directed by Taken helmer Pierre Morel, where she portrayed a CIA operative forced into an impossible choice to save her husband.
Next up, Beckinsale continues her streak of emotionally charged thrillers in Stolen Girl, a drama inspired by real events where she plays a mother fighting to recover her abducted daughter with the help of an ex-marine (Scott Eastwood).
With Wildcat on the horizon, Kate Beckinsale is set to reaffirm her status as one of Hollywood’s fiercest and most unstoppable action leads.
