National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut is poised to make her Hollywood debut in the horror drama film, Blessed Be The Evil.
In the film, Ranaut will portray the lead character, sharing the screen with Tyler Posey, known for his role in Teen Wolf, and Scarlett Rose Stallone, as reported by Variety.
The narrative centers around a Christian couple who, after the heartbreaking loss of a child, relocate to a deserted farm with a troubled past. As they strive to rebuild their lives, they find their love and faith challenged by a sinister force.
The project, produced by Lions Movies, is slated to begin filming this summer in New York. Producers opted for a U.S. location to sidestep potential complications arising from the recently imposed Trump industry tariffs.
Blessed Be The Evil will be directed by Anurag Rudra, recognized for his previous work on Tailing Pond. Rudra co-wrote the screenplay with Gatha Tiwary, the president and founder of Lions Movies.
“Growing up in rural India, I was surrounded by stories that deeply resonated with me,” Rudra shared. He continued, “These folk tales were so significant that I genuinely believed in them, and I want to bring them to a global audience through the compelling medium of cinema—the most powerful and beautiful way to weave together dreams and reality.”
Tiwary emphasized the uniqueness of the storyline, stating, Blessed Be The Evil presents a rare narrative. Lions Movies has crafted a gripping tale filled with extraordinary suspense and drama, with great potential for international audiences in both streaming and distribution.”
Kangana Ranaut’s involvement adds considerable star power to the project. In addition to her accolades, which include four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards, she is also an accomplished filmmaker and serves as a Member of Parliament in India’s Lok Sabha. Earlier this year, she directed and starred in Emergency, where she portrayed Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which saw a worldwide theatrical release.
Tyler Posey, who gained fame from Teen Wolf, has previously starred in horror films such as Truth or Dare. Scarlett Rose Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin, has appeared in Reach Me and recently took a role in The Gunslingers alongside Nicolas Cage.
