Storyline
Kaali (Paoli Dam) continues her struggle to save her son after his discharge from hospital and she encounters many more dangers in her way with only ray of hope in the form of Aniket Banerjee (Rahul Banerjee) who rescues Kaali from many tricky situations like he did in Season 1.
The (international) dreadful drug lord Jin Liang (Abhishek Banerjee) get released from jail so that he can be handed over to Vietnamese authorities. DCP Manvi Gupta (Vidya Malvade) who is deputed from Delhi to oversee this operation chalks out a fool proof plan to ensure hassle free deportation. Nevertheless, Jin Liang escapes as plans go awry at the last moment and Aniket who accompanies Jin has to let him go due to threat to the life of Kaali and her son.
Another cool headed drug dealer Swapan Koley (Chandan Roy Sanyal) who is supposed to be dead makes re-entry and captures Kaali while threatening to kill his son. Kaali had no other alternative except to yield to Swapan who needs her help to lay his hands on something very big.
How Kaali manages to fight it out and how Aniket saves himself from blame game makes an interesting watch in the remaining part of story. Above all, there is a startling revelation at the end which changes the whole complexion of the story and this holds the key to the whole drama.
Artiste(s) Performances
Except Paoli Dam none can be imagined in the role of mighty Kaali. She is the numero uno in this role and inevitably she dominated the entire proceedings. Her power packed performance stands apart and she handled every scene brilliantly, be it an emotional, confrontation or a physical fight scene, she excels in every emotion and expression.
On the other hand, Abhishek Banerjee as Jin Liang gets another significant role to showcase his talent following his impressive performance in Paatal Lok. He is bound to go places and he will be seen more from now onwards as the talent he possesses is sure to catapult him to big league very soon.
Rahul Banerjee as Aniket Banerjee fits the role perfectly and he has done complete justice to the role of an upright police officer who gets stuck between the choices he makes.
Technical aspects
While the first season was directed by Korak Murmu who has done a marvelous job in presenting a pulsating story that has caught the imagination of viewers resulting in an exciting series, the second season which is directed by Aritra Sen along with Rohan Ghose has taken Kaali to another new level with immaculate narrative which keep the viewer glued to the story all along the season 2.
The background score by Nabarun Bose is apt and enhances the mood of the series to a great extent.
The photography of Srijit Bose and editing by Sumit Chowdhury are commendable and both have contributed in shaping Kaali as a real entertainer.
Our honest feeling
Movies like Mary Kom, Kahaani and Dangal have uplifted the fighting spirit and strong determination of women but Kaali wages more dangerous battles against notorious criminals by defying death which lurks in every corner she treads. Kaali, will definitely inspire many woman of the country to become more brave and strong in fighting against various evils faced by them in their daily lives.
Kaali obviously provides that inspiration to all those who watch and the acting prowess of Paoli is an added attraction in addition to numerous twists that add the extra thrill factor to the whole series.
