Jio Hotstar’s Operation Tiranga celebrates the liberty to connect through stories that inspire, inform and unite.
As India prepares to mark its 79th Independence Day, the streaming service Jio Hotstar has launched Operation Tiranga, a platform‑wide program designed to honor the nation’s spirit of freedom. Through the theme “Tiranga Ek, Kahaniyaan Anek,” the initiative showcases a carefully selected mix of compelling narratives that mirror the many faces, emotions and ideals embodied by the Indian tricolour.
In line with the campaign, Jio Hotstar will make its entire catalogue available free of charge for the whole day on 15 August, underscoring the brand’s pledge to be inclusive and accessible to audiences across every corner of the country.
Film lovers are given a warm invitation as the platform does more than simply unlock its library—it transforms storytelling into a tribute to the nation. Viewers will be greeted by a splash screen drenched in the colours and ethos of India.
The refreshed user interface sets the tone for a hand‑picked collection of powerful tales that salute India’s bravery and character. At its core are stories that delve into the nuances of valor, sacrifice and national identity.
Drawing inspiration from the three stripes of the flag, the curated lineup is divided as follows:
- Saffron – narratives of courage and covert heroism, featuring titles such as Take Off, Madras Cafe and IB71.
- White – emotionally resonant accounts of sacrifice and resilience, including Salakaar, Neerja, Mangal Pandey: The Rising and Chandrashekar.
- Green – films that celebrate cultural heritage and pride, like Sarzameen, Kesari 2 and Airlift.
Together, these films form a unified, moving homage to the nation—available to stream for free on Independence Day.

Minakshi Achan, Head of Brand & Creative at Jio Star, noted that the platform has consistently pursued “infinite possibilities through storytelling,” giving audiences the freedom to decide what, when and how they watch. She described Operation Tiranga as an extension of that philosophy, adding that the campaign “celebrates the spirit of Independence Day, removes every barrier to access, and lets every viewer discover stories that reflect the courage, resilience, and identity of our country.”
Operation Tiranga will be visible across a range of consumer touchpoints: in‑app takeovers, prime‑time TV spots, high‑visibility outdoor placements, digital and social media activations, and brand collaborations. By highlighting top original productions and popular titles, Jio Hotstar aims to make its content more inclusive and relevant for all Indians. In partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the campaign also promotes flag‑etiquette awareness, blending entertainment, education and patriotism.
In short, Jio Hotstar’s Operation Tiranga celebrates the freedom to connect through stories that inspire, inform and bring people together—offering the entire library for free on Independence Day.
