The trailer for the forthcoming film Ghaati was released on Wednesday, 6 August. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the picture stars Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu in the leading roles. The preview offers a tantalising glimpse of the movie’s tense narrative and showcases Anushka Shetty in a never‑before‑seen, fierce incarnation.
Krish Jagarlamudi’s highly anticipated action thriller Ghaati, featuring Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu, dropped a dramatic trailer on Wednesday that confirms the film will hit theatres on 5 September 2025.
In a post on its X account, the production house UV Creations unveiled the trailer of Ghaati:
The teaser reveals that Vikram Prabhu and Anushka Shetty portray a couple living among the ghats. The local community—referred to as ghaatis—is exploited by smugglers who use the treacherous terrain to transport ganja across the border. The smugglers look down on the ‘ghaatis,’ treating them as mere carriers and denying them any legitimate livelihood.
According to the trailer, Vikram Prabhu’s character works in a dispensary or hospital, while Anushka Shetty’s character starts out as a bus conductor. The two eventually marry and set out to deliver justice for the oppressed ghaatis, who have been short‑changed by the criminal network. The film was originally slated for a 11 July 2025 release, but the date has now been shifted to 5 September 2025.
Presented by UV Creations and produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi, Ghaati marks the second collaboration between Anushka Shetty and director Krish Jagarlamudi after the blockbuster Vedam. It also becomes Anushka’s fourth project with UV Creations. The makers have confirmed that Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu plays the role of Desi Raju.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Vikram Prabhu disclosed that he shed eight kilograms to portray his character. The film’s tagline—“Victim, Criminal, Legend”—hints at a narrative that blurs the boundaries between good and evil, survival and morality. Ghaati promises an intense journey into the darker aspects of human nature, where protagonists must confront their pasts, make impossible choices, and ultimately seek redemption.
Cinematographer Manojh Reddy Katasani brings the world of Ghaati to life with striking visuals, while Nagavelli Vidya Sagar’s score intensifies the film’s mood. The production design is handled by National Award‑winner Thota Tharrani, and the editing is the work of Chanakya Reddy Toorupu and Venkat N Swamy. Dialogues penned by Sai Madhav Burra add a sharp edge to the storytelling, ensuring that the film will engage audiences with its powerful narrative.
