Ed Sheeran’s Netflix Special ONE SHOT Set for November Release
Global pop sensation and Grammy Award-winning artist Ed Sheeran is bringing fans a one-of-a-kind musical experience this fall. Scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 21, ONE SHOT showcases Sheeran’s creativity in a completely new form — a live, one-take performance set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City.
The upcoming special is directed by Philip Barantini, the Emmy Award–winning filmmaker best known for Adolescence and his acclaimed single-take projects. ONE SHOT is co-produced by Fulwell 73 and Emmy-winning producer Ben Winston, known for his work on award-winning television productions.
According to Netflix’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter), ONE SHOT features Sheeran performing his hit songs spontaneously across the streets of New York. The entire experience unfolds in real time, following the British singer as he interacts with fans, performs on sidewalks and subway platforms, and captures the spontaneous energy of city life — all in one continuous take.
Netflix shared in its press release that Sheeran will spend “one afternoon traveling through New York City, delighting fans with impromptu performances and encounters — all filmed in a single, uninterrupted sequence.”
Beyond ONE SHOT, Sheeran recently released his eighth studio album, Play, which draws musical influences from India and Persia. The track Sapphire, completed in Goa, features celebrated Indian artist Arijit Singh and includes an appearance by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in its music video.
Speaking with NPR’s Morning Edition, Sheeran revealed he no longer aims to tailor his music for the U.S. market, emphasizing artistic authenticity over commercial expectations. With Play already reaching number one in India, Sheeran describes the album as “a lighter and more joyful project” — one that’s all about having fun.
