Bunny Trailer Reveals a Darkly Funny New York Story of Secrets, Survival, and Community
Independent cinema thrives on creativity and resourcefulness, and few projects embody that spirit better than Bunny, an inventive new comedy set in the heart of New York City. The debut feature from filmmakers Ben Jacobson and Mo Stark transforms one East Village apartment building into a chaotic playground of secrets, mischief, and unexpected teamwork.
The film, co-written by Jacobson, Stark, and long-time collaborator Stefan Marolachakis, had its beginnings in a setting close to home—literally. Stark, who also stars as the titular character, used his own apartment building as the main shooting location. What began as a low-budget idea soon evolved into a festival success, earning screenings at SXSW and Tribeca, two of the most prestigious showcases for independent filmmakers.
A Hilarious New York Thriller with a DIY Twist
Bunny follows the story of a small-time hustler whose latest scheme takes a sudden, deadly turn. When a job goes disastrously wrong, Bunny finds himself in a desperate fight for survival. Seeking help from his friend Dino, he quickly becomes entangled in a wild chain of events that spans one sweltering summer day and night. As the pair scramble to conceal a body, they enlist help from a motley group of neighbors, each more eccentric than the last. With the NYPD closing in and tempers rising with the temperature, chaos reigns across the building’s five floors.
A Cast and Crew Fueled by Passion for Independent Film
The film stars Liza Colby, Tony Drazan, Liz Caribel Sierra, Ajay Naidu, and Henry Czerny alongside Stark in the lead role. Produced by Jacobson, Stark, Marolachakis, and Scott Dougan, Bunny also features executive producers Brian Healy, Charles Miller, and Garret Levitz.
Jacobson emphasizes the collaborative nature of the project, describing filmmaking as “a fully team-driven process” that relies on each contributor’s commitment from start to finish. He notes that Bunny is a true testament to what can be achieved when determination meets creative vision.
