Hollywood power duo Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up once again, this time for Netflix’s upcoming action-packed crime thriller The Rip. The streaming platform unveiled the film’s first teaser trailer on Wednesday evening, giving audiences a glimpse into what promises to be a tense and gritty story.

In this new project, Damon steps into the role of Lieutenant Dane Dumars, while Affleck portrays Detective Sergeant JD Byrne. Both serve with the Miami Police Department and find themselves at the center of a dangerous situation during a high-stakes raid. What begins as a standard operation quickly spirals when the officers uncover millions of dollars hidden inside a stash house. The unexpected discovery forces them—and their team—to grapple with loyalty, greed, and suspicion as trust begins to fracture.

The two-minute trailer highlights the charged dynamic between Damon and Affleck’s characters, featuring several intense confrontations that showcase the growing tension. As the money becomes a source of conflict, alliances start to break, raising the stakes for everyone involved.

The Rip also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler. Calle’s character, in particular, foreshadows the looming danger in the story, warning that chasing the money could lead to dire consequences for the entire group.

Behind the camera, the film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan, known for his work on adrenaline-fueled thrillers. Inspired by true events, The Rip promises to combine action, suspense, and moral dilemmas in a way that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Adding to the anticipation, Affleck and Damon are not only starring in the film but also producing it through their company Artists Equity, alongside Luciana Damon and Dani Bernfeld. The collaboration further cements their reputation as one of Hollywood’s most enduring and successful partnerships.

The Rip is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on January 16, 2026, making it one of the most anticipated streaming releases of the year. Fans of crime dramas and action thrillers alike will want to mark their calendars for this gripping new story.
