The Telugu film Beauty introduces Nilakhi Patra in her debut role alongside Ankith Koyya. Directed by Vardhan and presented by popular filmmaker Maruthi, the movie hit screens today with expectations of delivering a refreshing love story. Let’s see how it fares.

Story

Alekhya (Nilakhi Patra) is a lively college student raised by her doting father Narayana (Naresh), a hardworking cab driver who fulfills her wishes despite financial struggles. Her life takes a turn when she unexpectedly meets Arjun (Ankith Koyya) and falls in love with him.

When her mother (Vasuki) discovers their relationship, fear pushes Alekhya to run away with Arjun to Hyderabad. Narayana begins a desperate search for his missing daughter, leading to an emotional track. The second half introduces a twist that attempts to shift the narrative, raising questions: What happens to Alekhya and Arjun? Will Narayana’s pursuit end in reunion or heartbreak?

Performances

Ankith Koyya portrays dual shades of his role fairly well, though his performance feels uneven. Nilakhi Patra plays a bubbly, energetic lover, but her exaggerated acting comes across as forced in several scenes. Naresh shines as the emotional father, delivering the most genuine and heartfelt performance in the film. His presence keeps the drama somewhat relatable, particularly for parents in similar situations. Vasuki, as the mother, fits the part but has a very limited role.

Behind the scenes

On the technical side, Shrie Sai Kumaar Daara’s cinematography is functional but lacks innovation. Vijay Bulganin’s music delivers a couple of decent songs, though the background score fails to elevate key moments. Editing is another drawback, with stretched sequences in both halves testing the audience’s patience.

Final Verdict

The film’s second half offers a twist that adds some intrigue, but it arrives too late to rescue the slow-moving narrative. The first half is weighed down by repetitive sequences, loud acting, and dialogues that feel unnatural. The chemistry between the leads fails to build convincing romance, while comic touches often backfire, leading to unintentional humor.

Beauty had the potential to tell a relatable story about love and parental bonds but falls short due to poor storytelling and over-dramatic performances. The only true highlight is Naresh’s touching portrayal of a father’s unconditional love. Unfortunately, this isn’t enough to save a film that otherwise feels repetitive and disconnected.

Unless you are keen to watch Naresh’s performance, this film can easily be skipped for more engaging weekend entertainment.
