Music composer Advait Nemlekar, renowned for creating the background score for the streaming series Special Ops Season 2, has garnered outstanding reviews for his work on the show. In an era where music production has shifted predominantly towards electronic sounds, Advait opted for a different approach for this series. He revealed that the score features a blend of live instruments and electronic components.
With various narrative threads interwoven throughout the series, Advait’s captivating and immersive score serves as an anchor amidst the chaos, playing a vital role in amplifying the tension and emotional weight of the espionage drama created by Neeraj Pandey. His music significantly enhances the storytelling experience, presenting compositions that feel rich, textured, and distinctly cinematic. Whether capturing the subtle suspense of a hotel in Budapest or the urgency of an ambush in Delhi, the background score sharpens every scene.
Reflecting on his experience working on Special Ops 2, Advait Nemlekar shared with IANS, “The music for ‘Special Ops 1’ was designed to elevate the tension, drama, and emotional richness of the narrative. The first season was characterized by fast-paced, intense energy, so we incorporated a mix of orchestral and electronic elements to align with that mood. In Season 2, while the action remained adrenaline-fueled, the storyline delved into deeper emotional layers, prompting an evolution in the music. We recorded the score using a live string section, which infused it with warmth and depth while maintaining an intimate feel.”
He added that one of the highlights of the experience was recording the string sessions live in the studio, an unforgettable moment as he watched the music come to life through real musicians.
“I’m elated by the response. It’s been remarkable to witness the audience connecting so profoundly with the background score and appreciating its contribution to the show’s impact. When your peers and someone as esteemed as Kay Kay Menon acknowledge your work, it holds significant meaning. It serves as validation from one of the best in the industry,” he remarked.
Kay Kay Menon, reprising his role as Himmat Singh, recently expressed his admiration by sharing a video on his Instagram, praising the show’s soundtrack.
