It’s safe to say that NewJeans‘ latest release, “OMG,” is a global success. The sensational rookies have released hit after hit, leading K-Pop fans and locals alike to become bonafide Bunnies (NewJeans’ fandom).
Since their debut last summer, NewJeans has been collecting fellow celebrity fans left and right.
From veteran idols saying NewJeans’ fresh style reminds them of their own debut to numerous idols and actors covering the group’s hit songs, NewJeans has proven they’re a rookie group to watch.
Their influence quickly became global, and their recent hit “Ditto” landed the group on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time, only six months into their career.
While NewJeans was initially nervous about releasing their B-side “Ditto” before their title track “OMG,” the success of both songs proved they had nothing to worry about.
The group’s songs have found massive success on and off the charts, and many have gone viral on the popular social app TikTok.
Outside the usual “dance challenge” trends, “OMG” has found unique success as a viral sound and CapCut template on the app.
TikTok users have gotten creative with the cute CapCut template, with many using it to create an adorable and trendy montage of some of their favorite celebs.
Fans recently came across what appeared to be a Ryan Reynolds edit using the popular template but were in for a surprise when they noticed it was the actor’s official account.
Ryan Reynolds used the template with a mashup of himself from his 2009 film Paper Man with bleach-blonde hair, wearing a Superman costume.
Even though most people used the template with images of someone else, fans found it hilarious that he essentially made an ultimate fan edit of himself.
While some were surprised to see Reynolds join the trend, considering his connection to K-Pop, it’s not so shocking.
He’s previously modeled for a photo shoot with HyunA and has a heartwarmingly close friendship with Stray Kids!
