A Provocative Queer Psychological Thriller Arrives

The highly anticipated film Accused, featuring powerhouse performers Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, is set to premiere on Netflix this February. Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, this psychological thriller delves into themes of trust, perception, and the repercussions of a scandal.

With a star-studded creative team backing the project—including producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, and Soman Mishra—Accused promises a gripping narrative that challenges societal norms.

Plot & Key Themes: A Marriage Torn by Accusations

Accused follows Dr. Geetika (Konkona Sen Sharma), a renowned surgeon in London, whose life spirals when she faces allegations of sexual misconduct. Her wife, Meera (Pratibha Ranta), stands by her, but as secrets unravel, their perfect life threatens to collapse.

The film intricately explores:

  • The fine line between truth and deception
  • The psychological toll of public accusations
  • A queer love story tested by societal judgment

Will their bond survive, or will the weight of suspicion destroy everything?

Netflix Premiere & Critical Acclaim

Slated for release on February 27, Accused joins Netflix’s growing lineup of bold, thought-provoking Indian originals. Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Netflix India’s Director of Original Films, praised the film for its “emotional depth and powerful storytelling,” highlighting Anubhuti Kashyap’s direction and the lead actresses’ compelling performances.

The screenplay, penned by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, intricately weaves tension and emotion, making Accused a must-watch psychological drama.

Behind the Scenes: Stellar Cast & Crew

Konkona Sen Sharma, last seen in Search: The Naina Murder Case (streaming on JioCinema), returns in another intense role. Her co-star, Pratibha Ranta, recently gained acclaim for her work in Qala and now steps into a challenging queer narrative.

Director Anubhuti Kashyap (known for Badmai Hoon) brings her signature nuanced storytelling, while Dharma Productions ensures high production value.

Why You Should Watch Accused

  • A rare LGBTQ+ thriller in mainstream Indian cinema
  • Powerhouse performances by Konkona & Pratibha
  • Unpredictable twists that keep viewers hooked
  • A timely exploration of false allegations and moral dilemmas

Final Thoughts & Release Details

Mark your calendars: Accused streams exclusively on Netflix from February 27. Will truth prevail, or will perception destroy lives? Tune in to witness this riveting tale.
