The creators of Aap Jaisa Koi, featuring R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh, have finally unveiled the trailer for the film on Wednesday.

With its release on the OTT platform Netflix, the anticipation surrounding Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s romantic-comedy has surged ever since the first look was revealed a few months back.

R Madhavan posted the film’s trailer on his Instagram, showcasing the distinct chemistry between him and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

In Aap Jaisa Koi, Madhavan plays Shrirenu, a reserved Sanskrit tutor, while Fatima Shaikh portrays Madhu, an enthusiastic French teacher. The film intertwines their contrasting personalities in a narrative that explores themes of family and belonging alongside romance.

The trailer suggests that the plot revolves around a couple navigating the challenges posed by their differing cultures and ideologies.

Madhavan takes on the role of Shrirenu Tripathi, who has grown up in a strict family in Jamshedpur, governed by patriarchal norms regarding women’s conduct.

Conflict arises when he falls for Fatima, who comes from a liberal background and is outspoken about the constraints placed on women.

Their love story showcases the clash of two divergent beliefs, leading to heartache as they grapple with their feelings.

Check out the trailer for more insights.

Directed by Vivek Soni, the film aims to present a contemporary romance that emphasizes the importance of genuine connections in the modern world.

“Aap Jaisa Koi is a story about breaking free from the barriers we create for ourselves. It embraces the awkwardness and vulnerability that love entails. Collaborating with Netflix again after Meenakshi Sundareshwar has been incredibly rewarding, and I am thrilled to share this tender, chaotic, and intimate love story that highlights vulnerability without sacrificing its lightheartedness. It subtly examines the roles we assume in relationships and reflects the quiet courage needed to truly open up to someone. With R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh infusing their characters with deep emotion, the film embodies a sense of authenticity that resonates with Netflix audiences. It is a modern romance that underscores the necessity for genuine connections in today’s society,” stated Vivek Soni.

The film is being produced under the Dharmatic Entertainments banner and is set to premiere on July 11.
