Aamir Khan is making his return to the big screen, and the excitement is palpable. His eagerly awaited sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par, has emotionally moved viewers during its exclusive screening. Early reviews for the sports-comedy drama have begun rolling in, and they are overwhelmingly positive. Fans and critics are already dubbing the film a ‘game changer’ ahead of its official release on June 20, 2025.
Currently, Aamir Khan is focused on promoting his much-anticipated return with Sitaare Zameen Par, a follow-up to his beloved 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par. Before its public debut, a special screening was held on June 9, 2025, and the initial reactions have been remarkably enthusiastic. Following the screening, Aamir took the time to connect with the audience, and their heartfelt responses have sparked conversations across social media platforms.
Audience members praised Sitaare Zameen Par for its heartfelt approach, impactful message, and touching depiction of differently-abled children. One attendee expressed to Aamir, “You made us cry…the final twist was beautiful.” Another remarked, “It’s been a long time since a film like this followed Taare Zameen Par. This will shift perspectives.”
Among the early viewers were members of the Muskan Foundation and renowned author Sudha Murthy, who commended the film for its portrayal of differently-abled individuals and its advocacy for inclusion. Murthy suggested that the film offers a new lens through which to understand these individuals, emphasizing their uniqueness rather than labeling them as ‘not normal’. She stated:
“I believe this film is an eye-opener. Many people fail to comprehend children we deem ‘not normal’. However, this beautifully crafted movie allows viewers to see their sensitivity and pure hearts. They often smile simply because they approach life with such purity… The film embraces these individuals, showcasing their unique perspectives and capabilities. It has the potential to drive significant changes in society. We should integrate them into our regular systems and work towards their rehabilitation in a conventional way. I’m truly grateful for the chance to witness such an incredible film by Aamir Khan.”
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par narrates the uplifting journey of a fallen basketball coach (played by Aamir Khan) who seizes an opportunity for redemption by coaching a team of differently-abled children. This Bollywood take on the acclaimed Spanish film Campeones features Genelia Deshmukh alongside Aamir, as well as ten new talents: Simran Mangeshkar, Naman Mishra, Ayush Bhansali, Gopi Krishna Varma, Aroush Datta, Vedant Sharma, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Samvit Desai, and Rishabh Jain.
In a conversation with PTI, director R.S. Prasanna shared that the film would not have been possible without the contributions of the fresh faces from the differently-abled group, which enhanced the film’s authentic allure. Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled to release in theaters on June 20, 2025.
