J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems are set to perform at the inaugural halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup Final, which will be broadcast worldwide on July 13 from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, as announced on Monday morning.
The halftime event is being organized by Global Citizen and curated by Chris Martin of “Coldplay,” a long-time advisor to the organization. The performance will be available for free streaming globally on all prominent digital platforms.
As with all of Global Citizen’s entertainment-focused initiatives, the primary aim is to promote awareness and fundraising efforts to combat extreme poverty worldwide.
J Balvin expressed his enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “From Medellín to MetLife — I’m honored to headline the first-ever halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup final. It’s a historic moment for me, for Latin culture, and for every child who dreams big.”
Tems added, “We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment to celebrate football, embrace the unity that music provides, and improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. I can’t wait … see you at the Club World Cup final.”
Each of the performers has participated in Global Citizen events previously. Balvin will mark his fourth collaboration with the organization, having appeared in three televised or streamed shows during the pandemic: “One World: Together at Home,” “Global Goal: Unite for Our Future,” and “Vax Live.” Doja Cat has headlined two globally broadcast concerts, including the 2024 Global Citizen Festival in Central Park and Global Citizen LIVE in front of the Eiffel Tower in 2021. Nigerian artist Tems performed at the Global Citizen Festival: Accra in Ghana in 2022.
Organizers have pledged that the crowning of the first official FIFA club world champion in July will attract the largest global audience ever for a club football competition.
The halftime show will benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which was announced in April at the Global Citizen NOW Summit by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen co-founder/CEO Hugh Evans. The initiative aims to raise $100 million to provide children access to quality education and football. To support this goal, a dollar from each ticket sold for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup matches in the U.S. will be contributed to the fund.
Hugh Evans stated, “To end extreme poverty, we need to ensure that every child has access to a quality education. That’s why, together with our partners at FIFA, we’re urging football fans worldwide to take action. The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund combines the global passion for football and music to raise $100 million — giving children around the world a true opportunity for a better future. As the Club World Cup begins, we’re encouraging fans to step up, get involved, and join the movement for real change.”
The upcoming FIFA Club World Cup will take place in the U.S. from June 14, culminating on July 13. The event will feature the top 32 club teams competing at 12 venues across 11 cities.
Global Citizen is producing the halftime show in collaboration with Live Nation, Done+Dusted, and DPS, with direction by Hamish Hamilton. Executive producers include Guy Carrington, Hamish Hamilton, and Dave Meyers.
Additionally, it was announced last fall that Global Citizen will also produce the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.
