Actor Abhishek Banerjee’s film Stolen, supported by a distinguished team of executive producers—Kiran Rao, Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane—is set to premiere digitally on June 4.

Kiran Rao discussed the film, stating, “Stolen is a unique film that weaves together thrilling narrative tension with a profoundly humane essence. The character Jhumpa lingered in my thoughts long after I experienced the film—her vulnerability and strength remind us that resilience can emerge from the most unexpected places.”

Kiran further emphasized the film’s captivating nature: “It’s a rare kind of cinema that draws the audience in deeper with each frame.”

On Monday, streaming platform Prime Video confirmed June 4 as the global release date for this Hindi original movie, an investigative crime thriller that marks Karan Tejpal’s directorial debut and is produced by Gaurav Dhingra of Jungle Book Studio.

The plot revolves around the intense experiences of two urban brothers who witness a baby being abducted from a destitute mother at a railway station in rural India. Responding to a moral obligation, one brother persuades the other to assist the mother in a dangerous quest to locate the child.

Anurag Kashyap, an executive producer, shared his thoughts: “Cinema that is powerful, uncompromising, relentless, and emotionally raw will captivate you from the first frame and hold your attention—that’s precisely what Stolen did for me.”

The film features a talented cast that includes Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, Sahidur Rahaman, and Shubham.

Nikkhil Advani, another executive producer, expressed his affinity for unconventional narratives that ignite discussions, stating, Stolen accomplishes just that.” He noted that despite its tense and gripping storyline, it is fundamentally rooted in deep emotional significance.“

Vikramaditya Motwane remarked on the film’s ability to deliver suspense intertwined with emotional depth: “The brilliance of Stolen lies in its capacity to provide suspense with soul—it’s swift-paced yet never loses its emotional essence.”

Motwane was particularly drawn to the film’s sharp narrative, adding, “Every moment is intentional, and every beat is significant. I take pride in being part of Stolen a project that is bold, urgent, and profoundly captivating. Karan, Gaurav, and Swapnil Salkar – Agadbumb have created something exceptional, brought to life by an outstanding cast.”

Having debuted at the 2023 Venice Film Festival to a standing ovation, Stolen also garnered accolades for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress at the Beijing International Film Festival.

At the Skip City International D-Cinema Festival in Japan, it was awarded both Best Film and Best Director. The Zurich Film Festival recognized Stolen with a Special Mention, solidifying its standing in the global arena. In India, the film premiered at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and was featured at the 28th International Film Festival of Kerala.

Manish Menghani, director and head of content licensing at Prime Video India, noted, “This thrilling narrative does more than entertain; it reflects societal issues, exploring powerful themes of justice, trauma, and human resilience.”

He added, “The film’s acclaim at esteemed international festivals, combined with the support of our influential executive producers, reinforces our commitment to championing distinctive voices. We are proud to present this meaningful story from producer Gaurav Dhingra and debut director Karan Tejpal to a global audience, further establishing Prime Video as a hub for compelling and thought-provoking cinema.”

Gaurav Dhingra, the producer and writer of Stolen, stated, “This film is a taut, emotionally impactful thriller—a human story enveloped in urgency and suspense. As both writer and producer, creating this narrative and witnessing its profound resonance on the global festival circuit has been a deeply moving journey.”

The film is directed by Karan Tejpal, who co-wrote it alongside Dhingra and Swapnil Salkar – Agadbumb.
