A Cross-Country Road Trip Uncovers an Intergalactic Fast-Food Conspiracy
Archstone Entertainment has unleashed the first official trailer for Operation Taco Gary’s, an upcoming sci-fi comedy that promises a wildly bizarre blend of roadside antics and extraterrestrial intrigue. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Mikey K (Michael Kvamme), a founder of the comedy platform Funny or Die.
The trailer introduces us to two brothers on a journey that quickly spirals into the unbelievable. The story follows the overly cautious Luke (Dustin Milligan) as he reluctantly agrees to accompany his eccentric, conspiracy-obsessed brother, Danny (Simon Rex), on a road trip to Luke’s new job in Ottawa. What begins as a simple drive rapidly devolves into a surreal adventure as Danny’s far-fetched theories begin to manifest at every turn, specifically centered around the ubiquitous fast-food chain, Taco Gary’s.
From Skepticism to Salvation: Brothers Against the World
Luke is forced to question his brother’s sanity as each stop at a Taco Gary’s restaurant grows more absurd and threatening. However, he soon confronts the terrifying reality that Danny’s outlandish claims are true: Taco Gary’s is not a restaurant but a front for a nefarious alien race plotting global domination. Faced with an impending apocalypse, the mismatched duo must overcome their differences. While Luke grapples with the shocking revelation that his brother was right all along, Danny must prove that only together can they save Earth from annihilation and a host of complicit Hollywood celebrities.
The film boasts a strong comedic cast, including Simon Rex (Red Rocket) as the unhinged truth-seeker Danny, and Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Creek) as his skeptical brother Luke. They are joined by Jason Biggs, Brenda Song, Arturo Castro, and Tony Cavalero. A notable highlight for sci-fi fans is the involvement of legendary physical actor Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Hellboy), who is slated to play a key alien character, bringing his unique artistry to the film’s weird world.
Festival Darling Set for Theatrical Release
Operation Taco Gary’s first premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival, where it established itself as a unique indie genre hybrid. It further built buzz with a screening at the San Francisco Film Festival. The project is produced by Matthew Vaughan and Rotten Science.
Archstone Entertainment is set to bring this off-the-wall adventure to audiences, debuting Operation Taco Gary’s in select theaters across the United States beginning February 27, 2026. Based on the trailer, the film positions itself as a raucous, high-concept comedy for viewers seeking something genuinely unconventional.
