SBS’s highly anticipated Friday–Saturday drama Wicked World has set the internet abuzz following the release of a gripping 55-second teaser that highlights the fiery connection between Im Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun.
Unveiled on December 31 during the 2025 SBS Drama Awards, the teaser offered fans a first look at the network’s bold new series lineup. Shortly after its on-air debut, the clip was uploaded to SBS’s official YouTube channel, where it quickly gained momentum—amassing over 200,000 views and hundreds of comments within hours.
Directed by Han Tae Seop, celebrated for his work on Stove League and Cheer Up, and penned by rising screenwriter Kang Hyun Joo, Wicked World promises to deliver an unconventional romance wrapped in fantasy and high-stakes drama. The story centers on Shin Seo Ri (Im Ji Yeon), an aspiring actress who becomes possessed by the spirit of a notorious Joseon-era villainess, and Cha Se Gye (Heo Nam Jun), an icy heir to a powerful conglomerate known for his ruthless business persona.
The teaser opens with an intense period sequence featuring Im Ji Yeon as the infamous Hee Bin Kang, Kang Dan Sim, who defiantly questions her fate before meeting her tragic end. A sudden shift reveals the shocking twist—Dan Sim awakens in 2026 as Shin Seo Ri, a struggling actress filming a historical drama. As she grapples with her new reality, the teaser flashes the tagline: “A Joseon villainess falls into 2026.”
Viewers also get their first glimpse of Cha Se Gye, whose cold charm perfectly embodies his reputation as a “monster of capitalism.” Their first encounter is both chaotic and comedic—Seo Ri lashes out with a bouquet of flowers while hurling archaic insults, leading to a hilariously tense standoff that hints at a love-hate dynamic between the two leads.
The teaser closes with Seo Ri’s ominous vow, “I will come for you soon, Cha Se Gye,” paired with flashes of past and present, leaving audiences eager to uncover the truth behind their fateful connection.
Fans were quick to flood social media with praise, commenting, “Im Ji Yeon’s acting is on another level,” and “The chemistry is insane!” Many also expressed excitement for the series’ May 2026 premiere, calling it one of the most anticipated K-dramas of the year.
With its time-slip twist, intense visuals, and the fresh pairing of two celebrated stars, Wicked World is shaping up to be one of SBS’s most talked-about romantic dramas of 2026.
