Introduction

Bollywood has never been short of celebrity talk shows, and yet another one has now joined the lineup: Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The concept, led by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, promises a space where women ask the questions male hosts usually avoid. But does it really deliver something new, or does it fall into the same formula we’ve seen before?

The Grand Opening: A Powerful Guest Lineup

The premiere episode pulls off quite the feat by reuniting Salman Khan and Aamir Khan on the same couch—two megastars often portrayed as rivals. Their camaraderie is instantly noticeable, filled with humor, nostalgia, and personal anecdotes. While the hosts arrive dressed for the spotlight (Kajol in a dazzling gold skirt), the actors keep it casual, almost like they wandered in from a neighborhood café. This contrast adds a certain unpolished charm to the setup, although the set design feels overly loud and distracting.

Nostalgia and Anecdotes

What works in the episode is the sense of nostalgia. Because the four have collaborated in the past, their conversations feel more like an old college friends’ reunion than a scripted talk show. They reminisce about shooting Andaz Apna Apna back in 1994, recalling Salman’s casual approach to filming versus Aamir’s reputation for perfectionism—even if it meant dozens of retakes. Salman jokingly admits that his acting career has thrived on just three expressions, a quip that lands well.

Beyond the Glamour: Honest Moments

For a Bollywood talk show, the conversation surprisingly delves into vulnerable territory. Aamir opens up about struggling to balance time with his children and the importance of therapy in his life. Salman candidly speaks about living with trigeminal neuralgia, a painful condition that required surgery. These moments of honesty cut through the otherwise lighthearted banter and remind viewers why celebrity conversations can still be engaging.

The episode also sprinkles in lesser-known tidbits—from Salman having to change schools due to unpaid fees to Aamir attending an all-girls school until the second grade. Such revelations, small as they are, give the series a bit more depth.

Weak Spots That Hold It Back

Unfortunately, the flow of the episode is interrupted by unimaginative “game segments.” These activities feel forced and disrupt the organic rhythm of the discussions. Similarly, while laughter is abundant, it often comes across as staged rather than spontaneous. The show’s attempt at quirky fun doesn’t always land.

Looking Ahead

Written by Niranjan Iyengar and directed by Arun Sheshkumar, Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle has a promising roster of upcoming guests, including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Vicky Kaushal, Chunky Pandey, and Govinda. The teaser even drops a cheeky remark about Kajol and Twinkle having once dated the same person—an intriguing hook for fans eager for gossip.

Final Verdict

So, does Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle justify its existence? While it brings together major stars and offers fleeting moments of honesty, the format feels overly familiar. The nostalgia works, but the lack of innovation and distracting set design prevent it from standing out in India’s growing slate of celebrity talk shows.

For Bollywood fans, the show is worth a casual watch, especially for the guest lineup. But for those expecting groundbreaking conversations, this review concludes that the series leans more on star power than originality.
