The upcoming documentary 999: The Forgotten Girls is a powerful, chilling exploration of one of history’s most devastating chapters – the Holocaust. The film turns its focus on an often-overlooked aspect of the Holocaust: the tragic story of 999 young Jewish women and girls from Slovakia who were among the first to be deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942.

Their journey, marked by unimaginable pain, extraordinary resilience, and a long-buried silence, is now being brought to light for the world to witness. 999: The Forgotten Girls delves into the sinister reality that unfolded when these innocent teenagers, many still in their teens, were deceived into believing they were being sent for paid labor. Instead, they became some of the earliest victims of Auschwitz, subjected to starvation, forced labor, brutal mistreatment, and an ever-present fear of death.

What sets this documentary apart is its inclusion of firsthand survivor testimonies from the original transport. These women, now elderly but still possessing the strength to share their harrowing experiences, provide a visceral, unfiltered glimpse into a world few can comprehend. They recount not only the atrocities they endured but also the bonds of sisterhood that sustained them, fleeting acts of defiance, and the unbreakable will to survive against all odds.

Through an assemblage of archival materials, haunting visuals, and deeply personal interviews, 999: The Forgotten Girls meticulously reconstructs a story that had long been overshadowed by mainstream Holocaust narratives. The documentary reminds us that the Holocaust was not merely a statistic-heavy event but a human tragedy that claimed the lives of individuals – young girls with dreams, families, and futures, all brutally erased in a matter of minutes.

By shining a light on these women and their journey, the filmmakers have created a testament to the strength of the human spirit. 999: The Forgotten Girls will be available exclusively on BookMyShow starting September 9th, 2025, ensuring that the experiences of these forgotten victims are etched into the collective memory of future generations. This documentary is a crucial step towards ensuring that the Holocaust and its victims are never forgotten, and their stories continue to move and inspire us long after the last witness is gone.
