SonyLiv is making steady inroads into the OTT threshold of South India with some remarkable films and web series in recent times. In continuation of its aggressive marketing ploy, WWW, based on the fresh concept of cybercrime adds one more feather in the cap of this popular digital platform. Produced by Dr. Ravi P Raju Datla under Ramantra Creations WWW is streaming now on SonyLiv.
Synopsis
Vishwa (Adith Arun), Christy (Divya Sripada), Ashraf (Priyadarshi), and Sadaa (Satyam Rajesh) are a team of cyber hackers who operate from various locations in India. The entry of Mithra (Shivani Rajasekhar) as the flatmate of Christy change the life of Vishwa who falls in love with her virtually.
But things take an unexpected turn due to lockdown and the whole dreams of both Vishwa and Mithra go for a toss. Now, apart from the love they need to fight for their lives.
What is the life-threatening danger and how Mithra and Vishwa are going to overcome this impending disaster is the remaining story of WWW-Who Where Why.
Performances
Adith Arun plays the central character of Vishwa around whom the whole film revolves. He was successful in showing the required variations as demanded by the story very convincingly.
As a loyal friend, sincere lover, and as a repenting hacker, Arun displayed his talent appreciably though it lacked the desired connectivity as the whole story progresses in a virtual medium.
Shivani Rajasekhar looked fresh in some frames but looked out of focus in some crucial scenes. Keeping the limitations in view, she has done a good job in her debut role.
It’s Sandeep Bharadwaj who stole the show with a menacing performance but again the constraints as mentioned above bogged him down from giving more superior performance.
Priyadarshi, Satyam Rajesh, Harsha, Riyaz Khan, and Divya Sripada (her makeover was brilliant) were equally impressive in their characters.
Behind the scenes
The director K.V. Guhan who is the man behind WWW has done a splendid job with a gripping screenplay and superb narrative that created some exciting moments in the film.
His photography was another classic example of extracting the maximum quality within limited space and lighting.
The way he dealt with a fresh concept was admirable but this concept should have been explored more to make it more convincing to an ordinary viewer who is not aware of hacking and its after effects.
The music by Simon K King was pleasant without any cacophony and the song ‘Nailu Nadi’ was an ear-pleasing composition and its picturization added more flavour to the song.
The editing of Tammiraju was top class and it has succeeded in projecting the required suspense throughout the film.
Final Verdict
There is no reason why one should not watch WWW. While similar stories have already found their way in other languages, WWW is the first effort in Telugu with a hacking backdrop and the way it was weaved around a love story was commendable.
WWW on the whole deserves a watch for its novel concept and exhilarating execution which was distinctly different from the routine.
