Ranvir Singh delved into her reliance on food on her social media.

The Good Morning Britain presenter explained how GP Dr Amir Khan connected with her previous posts about nutrition.

Ranvir wrote: “It was lovely having @doctoramirkhan in the studio for the whole show @lorraine today – not just for his lovely energy and brilliant brain – but because we get to chat off air, in the breaks, too.

“He said he’d noticed my recent posts on nutrition, and liked them, which was so nice of him to say.”

Ranvir Singh went on to stress the importance of understanding eating habits.

She continued: “What I then noticed was that I may have fallen into the trap of making it look like all you need is ‘more knowledge’ and ‘more education’ to solve an eating habit.

“But that’s not completely true. And thinking like that can make you feel completely stupid.

“Like somehow you’re not clever enough to ‘be better’ or that you’re ‘less motivated’ than someone else.

“The full truth is that I’ve found food to be the most easily available substance to rely on to stop me feeling discomfort – of any kind.

“Even the discomfort of being ‘happy’. And this has been going on and off for over 30 years.

“When Dr Amir asked me how it was all going with nutrition – I told him the truth.

“That I have spent a long time and a lot of effort in trying to learn how to handle my emotions and build trust in myself that I can get through anything without relying on food to help me.

“I’m still trying to learn this – I’m only at the beginning.”

Ranvir also recommended some helpful podcasts that people struggling with food can listen to. She concluded:

“If you want to listen to something helpful – that started me on (what I hope is my) final attempt to normalise my relationship with food – then maybe listen to @shahroo_izadi on @thediaryofaceopodcast or her chat with @mo_gawdat on his SLO-MO podcast.

“There’s a bit in that one where she mentions crisps and I actually burst into tears. That sounds dramatic I know but it’s true.

“Anyway, lots of love to anyone for whom over-eating is much deeper than just about the food.”

The thoughtful words of Ranvir attracted positive reactions from netizens.

One user commented: “This is me. Thank you for sharing, you wonderful human.”

Another added: “Thank you. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so eloquently and succinctly describe my own relationship with food.

“I am five days in (again) this journey and trying to manage my emotions without the food crutch.

“I say again as I’ve struggled with this for over 40 years. But you have given me this different perspective, different lens to view it from.

“Thank you for being so honest.”

In January 2024, Ranvir revealed her weight gain shortly after her partner Louis Church moved in with her.

She said: “I am a stone-and-a-half overweight – it’s my hangover from constantly eating when tired.

“It’s not just New Year when I decided to overhaul my diet and fitness regime – it’s every Sunday night!

“I head to the local gym for an hour’s spin class. I wish I hadn’t given up dancing after Strictly, but it just didn’t fit my day-to-day.”

Ranvir Singh met Louis when he was a production secretary during the Strictly Come Dancing series she was competing in.
