ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Fawad Khan to make Bollywood Comeback
Fawad Khan is set to make a return to Bollywood after a gap of eight years.
The Pakistani actor will star in a film with Vaani Kapoor.
The new film will reportedly be filmed entirely in the UK, with London set to be its initial shooting location.
According to Bollywood Hungama, a source said:
“Fawad Khan has a massive international pull given his popularity amongst South Asians worldwide.
“He has also been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Details of this project are being kept under wraps and everyone is tight-lipped about it.
“The producers will announce this project just before it starts its filming schedule in the UK.”
Fawad’s new film is set to be directed by Aarti Bagdi and will be produced by Vivek B Agrawal.
Vivek has previously backed successful movies including Queen (2013), Udta Punjab (2016) and Super 30 (2019).
The film is believed to be a romantic comedy about two people who are both struggling in life. They come together and help each other, eventually expecting to fall in love.
Delving into Vaani’s character, the source continued:
“Vaani Kapoor has been a part of big films and she was the perfect choice for this project, given how she has protected herself from being over-exposed.
“The makers wanted an incredibly fresh casting where Fawad falls in love with a gorgeous Indian girl and Vaani fit right in.”
Fawad Khan’s Bollywood exit reportedly began in 2016 due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.
As a result of the Uri attack, several Pakistani actors faced restrictions regarding work in India.
His latest Bollywood release was Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), where he played the extended guest role of DJ Ali Ahmed.
In 2022, Fawad Khan addressed the chances of making a return to Bollywood.
He said: “The collaboration with the people that I got to know and the kinds of people I was exposed to there was a great experience and I really enjoyed it.
“I’ll do my work and go away but then the people who’ll have to suffer are those who are who want to collaborate with me.”
“And I care about that because they are going to live there, and they’re going to suffer the consequences.
“Similarly if I were to work [in India] and come back [to Pakistan], I’d have to suffer the consequences of what the people or the government or whatever bodies that are involved think about it.”
On the work front, Fawad Khan is gearing up for the release of the web series Barzakh, which is set to premiere on July 19, 2024.
