We’re back from our downtime! The Crime Report was offline and under-construction over the weekend, but today we’re unveiling a new website design and some new functions to go along with it.
With the new site we’re introducing a few new features and reworking how we present our original reporting and our daily Justice Digest.
- The Justice Digest, which highlights daily news coverage from reporters and outlets around the U.S. and abroad has a new home, featured both on the homepage sidebar and on its own landing page.
- As a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to sharing criminal justice as widely as possible, we’ve added the ability for other outlets to more easily share our stories with a simple ‘republish’ function on our stories thanks to a tool created and maintained by the Institute for Nonprofit News. You can read our working republication guidelines here. They may update as we work out the kinks.
- We’ve centered our new homepage on our original stories, but we’ve included tools for readers to revisit older coverage under our ‘Worth A Read’ which randomizes through our archive of top stories.
- Overall we’ve replaced outdated tech, future-proofed some of the tools we’re using in our backend and modernized our design to make reading our coverage a better experience. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know.
You can expect changes throughout the coming weeks and months to tweak TCR’s website to best serve our readers. Coming soon: updated and handy criminal justice resource landing pages and tweaks to our daily and weekly newsletters.
